Hey i trying to render a realistic car and I used mentalray materials,Now I need to setup render passes for it and not able to do so. I am using maya 2008 and I used Final Gather by using Image Based Lighting and one directional light. I want the following passes: Diffuse,Reflection,Occlussion,Specular and more if possible. Please Help.

sorry my poor english. when I finished this sclupture. I use the Zbrush 3.1 Multi displacement 3 to export 32bit displacment map...and export obj file to import maya ,render with Mental ray....everything I think it's ok ,but when final render .I found this error...but I don't know ,hiw to fix it..

Hello friends, I want to get a good reflection on a thin one sided surface (headlamp). I use the arch and design (Thin Geometry) shader.. but for some reason.. the glass just looks transparent... I don't' want to change the refraction cause the glass should be completly clear. But even if my reflection is totally white (full reflection) it's just transparent.. what do I miss ? thx ...

I'm looking for an explanation as to way Alpha layers don't render out for particles with instanced geometry to them in Mental Ray. Hardware Renders out the alpha, but not MR. Does anyone know exactly why this happens, and is there a way to obtain an alpha for particles in MR? hi, im creating a character, and im having a huge trouble setting up a shader for the eyes. the eye geometry is the basic: an external layer, shaped like a ball with a cornea, and the inner eye, a ball that is the sclera with is front flattened for the iris and a hole for the pupil. turns out that the shader never turns out good, or it reflects too much or it wont reflect neither the lights very...

Hey I have this strange problem with render Passes in Mental Ray. I have a car which is running around in kitchen(Kitchen is still image). I want to render specular,reflection,diffuse passes,Strangely I am not getting those.Could somebody help me. I have used mental ray materials for my car.

I am trying to put one animated car into one image,I matched the perspective and did matched everything to make it look like the car belong in the image. So,now I used the same Image as HDRI and and got pretty satisfying results but now I want to match the shadows,I am really confused!... hello, just wondering if there is a way to make the normal map more pronounced when rendered in mental ray, other than increasing the contrast. I tried different lighting combinations and setting the filter to lancroz but it doesnt do much improvements. thanks in advance

I might be mistaken (i'm almost sure that I am), but if you use logarithmic exposure control you could match those values with Photoshop adjustment layers

There must be some change because of the new render layers and possibly the new smooth render option. WHile we're talking stereo 3D; do you have any idea why some projects render all the left frames and then all the right frames and some others render alternate frames?
