On my Media Center Extender, it can connect to any of the computers in my house, and then can stream movies, pics, and music without problem from my Windows Home Server. However, I can't figure out how to connect my media center extender (Linksys DMA2200) to my WHS directly (HP LX197) without having to turn the other computer on first for the Media Center Extender to connect to. Ideas?

One of the main reasons I got XBox 360 is for the Media Center Extender but having issues getting videos to play. I do all my home movies on Cyberlink Power Director then store them on my HP Media Vault for safe keeping and storage. I have always used Divx to do them in to save space and always worked best for me. I have set up my Media Center Extender and works great but when I go to the folder ...

I know Netflix is available through the XBox dashboard. I think it would be better if we could get to the Netflix and Internet TV menus from the extender and through similar menus available in the Media Center. Changed Type Gokul T Microsoft Support , Moderator 19 hours 9 minutes ago Discussion

I mean you can temporarily connect Xbox360 directly to your computer's NIC and see the result. Also, you can try the solutions in the following link: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/38611/172067.as px You can also post the issue to our Windows Media Center forum, via the following link: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/116.aspx

Hmm, downloaded it, but I don't have a copy of MCE to install on VM as the instructions indicate. Sounds to me that the easier solution is to just ditch WHS and install W7 on my HP LX197. The only confusing part for me is how I'm going to get that installed without having a monitor to see whats on the screen... hmmm... All I ever really do is host files to stream to other computers and ...

Ironically enough there is broader codec support directly off of the dashboard than there is through the MCE component. Unfortunately the only way to circumvent this issue would be to set up a server application on your desktop that will host the files on the drive you are trying to hit. That or connect the drive directly to the 360 if at all possible. Systems

So file this under the obvious answer isn't always the easiest to find. One of the above articles suggests that you initiate flow control on your router/switch to help it manage Media Centers bandwidth requirements. I had checked this setting many times (it was already enabled), but I was always checking my router settings from my computer, because that is where the media was stored. ...
