Are there such a thing as measuing spoons that have 1 1/2 tablespoon and 1 1/2 teaspoon? I was thinking that would save getting so many spoons dirty and save time?

A cup is a cup. However, with a dry measure cup you fill it up and sweep off the excess, thus giving you an exact measurement. You can't do that with dry ingredients in a wet measurement cup. Ingredients that are easily compacted, i.e. flour, is best measured by weight.

I put the exersaucer in the kitchen, plop dd into it, and cook and carry on a conversation with her while I cook. I also give her a wooden spoon and a measuring cup or something like that to play with while I cook. When she gets a little bit older (7 months now), what I did with #1 was to put the high chair in the middle of the kitchen and do basically the same thing.
