I am looking to build up a new wheelset for my DH rig, and I don't know whether to get the Mavic EX 721 rims or the Spank Stiffy. I have a friend with a lime green set on his lime green bullit and they look sick. They look super beefy. I am wondering can anyone give me any insight? I am thinking the white ones on black hubs for a black Marin Quake 7.3 with a Fox 40. What does anyone think?

Looking for a set of true UST wheels for my XC rig. I'm looking at a set of Mavic 819 with XT hubs at BWW at around $265. Any other recommendations on UST wheels. I have these on my Scott Plasma Team. They are OK, but more of a training wheel. I don't have the $ to replace, can the components be upgraded ? I see the Carbone has a carbon shroud, can this be retro-fitted? What about the hub or spokes or rims ? Waste of money ?

I can't believe this!! Just when out for my first ride on my new Mavic 819 with Pure XCR Hubs. Made it about 2 miles on mostly level single track. Hit the first long hill and the rear hub spun? No engagement at all. Temp was 34 deg so I'm going to pull them apart and see if they stuck. Don't know a lot about hubs but I know I'm not real happy at this point. Any thoughts??
