I always make mashed potatoes with sour cream and sometimes cream cheese a day or two ahead of time and keep them in the frig. Today in the grocery store I saw French onion dip on a super sale and decided to substitutue that for the sour cream....I made 5 pounds of potatoes and after mashing in the Kitchenaid mixer I added the dip (16 oz.)Jand nothing else. They were great....I'll add a bit ...

Somebody please tell me how to make good homemade mashed potatoes I'm embarrassed to ask. However, my Thanksgiving feast will be tomorrow or Saturday and mashed potatoes, which someone else has always made, is an expected dish and the said person cannot make the dish this year.

I haven't submitted a new recipe in months; and I'm finally getting my recipes organized and figuring out which ones aren't yet posted by someone at Zaar. This dish is really pretty, and in my oh so humble opinion, the flashy star of our turkey day spread. Basically, it's mashed potatoes spooned into a dish lined with carrot slices. The recipe is pending approval, but I wanted to share today's...

What the heck??!! I was actually looking forward to the mashed potatoes more than the turkey. I get to the table and my mom is like "Oh yeah I forgot" and she made potato salad instead. I didn't say anything though cause I don't want to be mean but now I want mashed potatoes. :(

I made mashed potatoes yesterday and am planning on topping them with cheese and bread crumbs and baking them on Thursday to heat them through. However, I completely forgot to put butter in them! They are already cooled in the refrigerator. What is the best way to add the butter? Should I take them out of the casserole dish, melt butter and stir it into the cold potatoes? Or, heat the...

I've never been able to "infuse" my mashers w/garlic flavor & I've tried all different ways. The other day, I think it was tyler Florence whizzed it up in the processor & w/some cream. So I tried that. Eureka!! Only trouble was, I turned the cream to butter that's ok; that was going in there, too. I'm loving this. Once a year. Not enough.

Any info on making the mashed potatoes the day before and reheating in the microwave? I read somewhere ( Bon Appetit? Martha Stewart? ) that you could make the mashed potatoes the day before Thanksgiving, and reheat in 3 to 4 minute pulses in the microwave. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am thinking potatoes mashed with a masher might work better than riced potatoes (fear of ...

ok, every Thanksgiving time I search around for a really good, creamy mashed potato recipe...anyone have one?? I really the potatoes from Liberty Tree with a slight garlic taste to them. Anyone have a similar recipe? I know alot of it is in the actual potato...which always leaves me a little clueless since I'm not a potato expert TIA
This comment is for Todd Gardiner. His recipe for country gravy and garlic mashed potatoes sounds very good. Is it possible to find out from him the brand of the potato masher that he used? In our family, we have a lot of potatoes and they are quite often served mashed. The "device" he used looked like it would be great. I hope he can let us know what brand it was and where to purchase it. Thanks...

Has anyone tried the mashed cauliflower to replace mashed potatoes. I have not tried them yet but thought I would give them a try, people say they are better tasting than potatoes. Has anyone made them, do you have a good recipe for them you would like to share.
