I've got to lay ceramic tiles onto concrete and was thinking of using mapei rapid-set but I havent tried it before. I have used Keraquick which I found very good but is the rapid-set as good ? As it's a situation where I dont need the flexi I thought maybe I could save a few bob.

Best Sealer for Mapei Ultracolor In Shower I just completed a bathroom remodel, using Mapei's Ultracolor grout ( biscuit color). Mapei indicates this grout has "DropEffect technology which reduces surface absorption to help repel water, dirt and grime from penetrating grout joints", so it seems like it already has some sort of ...

Never fitted down insulation boards before, but this morning I fitted down some warmup cement faced insulation boards using Mapei Mapeker I used a 10mm U-notched trowel to ensure a decent coverage. I made the mix up a little looser than normal as I was paranoid it was going to go off a bit too quick! I am now worried that I may have made it too wet and it wont set. Am I correct in saying...

I work for a company that recently started using Mapei premixed grout. The problem solvers (you know them too....they have nice soft hands and clean fingernails) decided the answer to the worlds grout problems has to be this great new grout that comes in a little bucket. That's fine I guess. Haven't had many problems on the floors except for a little haze. BUT....they decided we are going to use ...

I have to fit some travertine mosaic soon, but was wondering what is the best order to seal and grout etc. It is small mosaic (48mm sq) that is unfilled. I will be using Mapei grout (jasmine) Do I seal, fit, grout, seal (until water beads off) or another different order? Ta

Sealing Ultracolor will only make a good grout better. Go to your local Lowes or Home Depot and buy their most expenseive sealer (the 32 a bottle v the 8 dollar stuff). With sealer, you get what you pay for. You won't be able to see the differemce between sealed and unsealed grout. I'd go ahead and seal it all.

Hi, I have purchased mapei ultracolor rapid setting grout not realizing that there is a regular keracolor s grout that has a little longer pot life. I found the keracolor s grout and I am wondering which grout is the best for my shower/tub surround. I have never grouted before and I think that I probably will be on the slow side. I am doing the grouting all by myself so I will not have ...

Thanks Brian. I guess I will steer clear of the rapid set grout. I hope that the mapei keracolor S is a satisfactory grout. Unfortunately, where we live, selection is very limited for the DIYer. Can I hand mix my grout or should I use a drill? I have no idea what the consistency of this grout will be. I have seen grout soft and creamy as well as stiff and dry. So should the grout be ...

No worries Dave, i dont use Mapeker myself that much but i know its a great adhesive as i tiled 35m2 for the local mapei reps uncle a while back. No problems with it at all but i still wouldnt choose to use it for UFH just my opinion. Saying that i may start using it more for general tiling now
