Planning to exclusively bf for at least 4 weeks but want a few bottles around ready - don't want to leave it too long to give ebm - hoping baby will take boob and bottle so OH can join in! Avent, Breastflow or Closer to Nature?

So, I have had a terrible time pumping--I even rented a hospital pump to see if it would help...anyway, today I just decided to try the avent manual pump that someone had given me and pumped 2.5 oz, which is more than I have been able to pump before...just wanted to pass it on, Not sure why it worked--maybe a better let down?

I like it better than the electric pump that I have, its not a great one but its middle of the road. I have an ameda hand pump and it seems sooo much faster for me. I can drain my breasts in about 10-15 min, where the electric one takes about 30 min. Is that ok? Will that effect my supply? Also, when I pump I squeeze until I get a good suction and then hold the squeeze until the spray ...

So, the other day for work I spent the day in Manhattan - well, only a couple of hours at a meeting, but the commuting really made it take most of the workday. I left my pump at home - I have a PISA in the shoulder bag - it was just too much to lug around. I pumped at 9:30 before I left, and at 4pm when I got back - skipping one session. I usually pump three times, or at least at better ...

Have any of you tried a manual pump? I am thinking about picking up a cheap manual pump to use on the plane or in the airports when we travel next week. Do you think that would be effective enough since my bbs are so used to the double electric? I almost bought one today but I thought I would come ask you girls first. What do you think?

Hi all, I hope to breastfeed exclusively and as soon as feeding is established will try to introduce a bottle for hubby to feed. It will be like only once a day so figure a manual pump should be sufficient. I'd really like to hear the views of those of you who are currently using a manual pump, or have used one before, as to which in your opinion is the best on the market? It may be that you...

best manual pump I will be starting back at school in about a month and will be gone on tues for 4.5 hours and thurs for 4.5 hours in both the afternoon and evening. I have a PIS but I do not want to lug it around with me through the day, I would like something that I can use quickly (I will only have about 10-15 mins) in between classes...

I think I can get way more milk with the Medela manual pump than I was getting with the electric pump. Seems like I can control it better and the milk comes out faster. Anyone else discover this?

Hi. I just had DD#3 a little over 3 weeks ago, and my Avent hand pump is about 7 years old. I've gotten all new bottles to be BPA free. 1) Is that the only part that would have BPA in it? 2) Can I boil all the parts to sterilize them - even the little star shaped white plastic thing? TIA!

Guys: Looking to see if my personal experience is valid or just a coincidence. The only water pump I ever lost was lost at 7k rpms in a manual. My observation is that the factory and aftermarket pumps (Stewart being the exception I would guess) do not take well to a diet of high rpms. I have owned a lot of E36 6 cylinders and that was the only pump that ...

It would be a safe bet to say that the pump that failed was at the end of its service life. Exposing it to high rpm just pushed it ...

i got a tommee tipee manual pump which works just fine and wasn't overly expensive it came with a free closer to nature bottle, but we never used that on isabel and just used breastflow...she hates bottle regardless of the brand so we just stuck with breastflow, but to be honest every baby is different so what works for one might be different for another. for this reason i'd recommend only ...

I paid £12 for mine in Tescos. i liked it but I don't know if it was me being too aggressive but my hand felt strained when I used it. I ended up buying the electric one - which was £40 half price in Tesco.
It's been years ( like 4) but let me also put a good word in for the Avent Isis. I had great success with it - in fact much better than an electric pump. I loved that thing. Even works great in barns - BTDT! LOL
Another fan of this pump. I always get the milk out of of my boobs with it easily. I've heard how some women dont respond well to pumps. Well this one still worked wonders on my boobs even though I did not pump for months (think it was at least 6 months).
