This may be a strange kind of question, but I was wondering if any of you have ever made your own drum mallets? We're trying to experiment with a Velvet Underground kind of percussion, but the drum mallets at the local GC are a bit pricey for what we're planning. Thanks for reading.

I make musical instruments and mallets to play them with - a customer is asking or glow-in-the-dark mallets. My mallets are made with a polyurethane 2-part mold process and I am wondering what I might add to my translucent mixtures to make them GITD. Green and red are the common colors. are gonna beat his @$$ after this game...he is leaving them out to dry They should try cathing a pass once in a while. That TD pass was the last one I can remember. Bouncing throws off their numbers isn't what they are supposed to do.

this might open a huge can of worms, and in some ways I hope it does, but can anybody help me out with some ideas for Timpani Sticks / Mallets? Im looking for some new sticks so any help on manufacturer, style, size, price would be great. Many thanks

Ya, good point about the mallets. Very important, like plectrums on an acoustic guitar. As with any instrument, put on a good pair of headphones and move the mic around until it sounds the same as your naked ear. If you've no good headphones, then make test recordings with the mic in different positions. Then you nail the whole lot to the floor so it never moves, like they did in Motown!! ...
