Hey everyone, Here is the scenario: the PCs are in a town plagued by strange accidents and disasters. They have found the cause; a powerful magic item that is damaged, causing it to go haywire. The goal is for the PCs to repair or otherwise fix the thing before it ruins or destroys the town. What kind of challenge should I use here? None of the PCs in question have any Craft Magic Item ...

Specifically for my post, i'm querying about modifying items. The gloves of storing only hold 10lb, my mordenkrad is 12lb, i have the ritual cast and enchant magic item ritual. Could i modify the gloves and if so how much should it cost? Generally, we could use this thread for other related questions.

This is a spin-off of THIS thread, which Random_Person started, and I eventually added two more versions of the Western chess set to. Wizard's Xiangqi Set, Lesser This beautifully inlaid xiangqi set is enchanted. The pieces are miniture statuettes made of Jade. All of the pieces are enchanted so that when a certain command word is stated they will enforce tournament rules of xiangqi ...

I did not find a note to that effect in either GURPS Magic , GURPS Thaumatology or GURPS Dungeon Fantasy: Adventurers . GURPS Magic 3e had a rule which increased cost by 20% for Power 16, +40% for Power 17, +60% for Power 18, +100% for Power 19 and then another +100% for every +1 to Power. The fact that this rule does not appear in 4e might suggest that it is ...

I really like the concept of a magic item set for my "witch" PC (Ultimate Magus) but I am having serious writer's block coming up with any mechanics. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I have so far... Hat/Robe/Boots/Cape/Book of Shadows (maybe in amulet form or something) See in darkness Mount spell with thematic trapping (with all the level ...

Wondrous Item Amulet of Equipment This amulet is made of pure bronze, and has a small figure similar to a chest drawn on it. As a standard action a character wearing the Amulet of Equipment can send any part of his gear (except for this amulet) to a secret place on the ethereal plane, activating it again as a standard action brings back all the equipment sent before to their original ...

Hello, I'm trying to familiarize myself with the rules on magical item creation. I'm trying to come up with a cursed magical item that a lich left lying around. It needs to do these things: 1. Zap any living wearer with "Dehydrate" (M188). 2. Zap any living wearer with "Zombie" (M151-52). Dehydrate costs up to 3 to cast, but the shroud could reduce that to 0 with a casting of "Power" ...

I understand the DDI character builder has a campaign option to make characters without magic items and still have the math workout by building in the bonuses normally from items straight into the PCs themselves (sort of like Iron Heroes). I'm considering getting the 4e PH and PHII with the new holiday special. Is this option spelled out in either the PH or PHII?

Recently, I've been watching a few shows/reading a few books where characters with better martial skill and able to use magical weapons and shields better. Not because of magic or any such, but simply because they're better and using weapons, and can use the magic within them better. This got me thinking...is there anything I can do with magic weapons/armors to make them more appealing to...

I thought it was a free action to retrieve a stored weapon? If not them screw the gloves i'll pick up the sack. My avenger has weak strength anyway. Divine power may let him strike hard and true, but he can't carry all the loot away then.

Well, a damaged magic item causing unintended effect is already out of RAW . By the default core rule, magic items works as it is until it is completely broken (0 hp). So, the way to solve this scenario does not need to go by RAW , IMHO . "Find the missing part" seems to be a nice idea. Or, maybe the Lab itself has some kind of self-repair (magical) mechanism and the PCs must activate ...
