I have a dedicated fax line and a fax machine I hate. I'd like to receive faxes in my MacPro, OS10.5.8. Does Apple have a how to manual I can download or view? I tried going to the Print & Fax Preference but there is no fax modem in the Printers list. Where do I plug in the phone line? I'm lost! ...

MacPro 8core extremely slow after latest snow leopard. Man this is not good. I am a very happy mac owner and recently decided to upgrade our studio workhorse to 10.6.2. The update process went flawless, the machine however felt very sluggish afterwarths. I went on this excellent board to seek some help and found a little cleaning...

Hi, I'm a newcomer to this forum. I've recently upgraded my beloved G-4 (born: Dec. 1992) by purchasing a new MacPro desktop. The info I've researched so far says I can easily transfer data, files, software, etc. between the two machines by connecting them via the firewall connectors. Trouble is, they seem to be different for the two machines. The firewall ports on the G4 seem to be six-...

I have a MacPro with Leopard 10.5.7 and whatever version of Skype I downloaded TODAY. The audio input to my MacPro is from an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB pre-amp and mic input device with a decent microphone. Can't even think of the brand, don't think it matters. I installed Sykpe on this computer today and rebooted. System preferences recognizes the PreUSB device as the audio input, and it ...

So I threw an xfx 4890 in my macpro (until 5870's are more available.) Video wise it's great, performs exactly as would be expected, however the realtek chipset for HDMI audio on board the video card is being initialized prior to the realtek on board the MacPro. If i remove the card and boot up... windows detects the onboard audio, otherwise if i leave it in only the cards audio ...

So I bought a new MacPro, and installed two sata hard drives from my G5. Great thing is, I have all of my files without migrating, and have even set my old drive as my boot drive (Leopard)... The guy at the Mac store said to keep the OS and the Apps on the same drive, which is why I am booting from my old drive (not to mention I only have Adobe CS3, and was afraid of compatibility issues, but now...

Hello, I installed a second graphic card ( ATI Radeon XT 1900 ) in the 3rd slot of my macpro, the first one housing the original NVidia and the 2nd a MOTU PCi. I have my main monitor connected via DVI to the ATI and 2 smaller monitors via DVI to the NVidia. New hardware is recognized by the computer on startup. Also all 3 monitors appear on the monitor setup window - only thing ...

What settings should I check to solve this problem? MacBook Pro averages 1,400KB/s in broadband test, while my MacPro averages only 500-600KB/s. Been checking speeds for a few weeks. Both access the same Airport Extreme Base station. MacPro runs Parallels, but that should not make a difference. ...

First thanks to the forum for all the info and help, I just upgraded my MacPro 1,1 to 8-core and 4870-- much appreciation. Now, I'm a bit concerned about all of my programs actually being able to use my cores. While the OS and most apps seem to work great, Compressor Qmaster seems to not be able to see more than 1 core. It saw 4 before w/ my 5160s. This is also reflected in the ...

I am considering parting with my MacPro, I love it but I ultimately just purchased it with the intention to of doing something, and not what I was doing at that time. So I'm going to downgrade but I'll attempt to give a MORE than fair asking price. Building all of what is on my Mac Pro on the Apple website right now the total is $4249.00 and thats with out Taxes, which depending on ...
