I was looking around msconfig.exe program the other day and something looked funny in the boot menu advanced boot options. It was set on one core processor but I have four processors. My question is what would happen if I selected four processors on this option, Any Ideas?

When I click on Start>Run>regedit or some other command. e. g. msconfig, a familiar black window opens. If I type something else, e. g. , the black box stays open for a second or less (there is no time to read a few lines seen there) and disappears. What gives? Can it be repaired?

I noticed the PC was running slow. Checked MSConfig and there were two entries of something called Service Pack 7 exe running. As best as I can tell it is some sort of spyware/malware. I can't find much info on it and I'm unable to remove it. Anyone familiar with it and how do I remove it? Thank you. Running XP SP3.
