I was looking around msconfig.exe program the other day and something looked funny in the boot menu advanced boot options. It was set on one core processor but I have four processors. My question is what would happen if I selected four processors on this option, Any Ideas?

After F8 and onto the boot menu options, my computer refuses to boot in safe mode. It gives me an error of "Sorry for the inconvenience... windows did not boot properly.. a recent hardware or software change might have caused this". The other options like "safe mode with networking" and "safe mode in command prompt" DO NOT work either. I'd have no choice but to choose "start windows ...

When I click on Start>Run>regedit or some other command. e. g. msconfig, a familiar black window opens. If I type something else, e. g. , the black box stays open for a second or less (there is no time to read a few lines seen there) and disappears. What gives? Can it be repaired?
I noticed the PC was running slow. Checked MSConfig and there were two entries of something called Service Pack 7 exe running. As best as I can tell it is some sort of spyware/malware. I can't find much info on it and I'm unable to remove it. Anyone familiar with it and how do I remove it? Thank you. Running XP SP3.

But there are no HP items on my list. Do i just continue following the steps without ...
