Hi I need help with MPEG 4 settings.. I'm screening my surf film in a couple days and the projectionist said I need to convert my film to MPEG 4 to be able to play it.. It's currently saved as HDV 1080i50 it goes for 30mins. NEED HELP!!!! Thanks, Robert Sherwood

All, EBU article from 2005 The Vector system I have described in the past was in MPEG-4 but has been taken over by MHEG-5 because it issues commands to a microprocessor in the TV. As you will see in the above article MPEG-4 uses MPEG-2 and extends its capabilities. AlanH

I agree with you when you say that NormDiff_L2 and NormDiff_L2 and NormDiff_L1 may help, but the problem is that none of the functions TransMacroBlockIntra_MPEG4 or TransMacroBlockInter_MPEG4 is called!!! What do you suggest plese?

Hi Robert, For a cinema i wouldn't go to H264. Playing with a computer you are not that constrained by the data rate. Your movie is HDV. I guess that your original footage is HDV, and I guess that you have render your footage. You shouldn't have exported your movie back to HDV, unless you intended to print back to HDV tape or so. Eastern Arc does require MPEG-4 receivers. There is a solution though. Having a Dish 1000.2 dish at 110,119,129 for the MPEG-2 receivers and if your locals are on 77 then have a dish pointed there. This allows you to use both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 receivers.
