Sticker art lutherie This may sound lame at first, but I am looking to re-do my bass with some stickers (don't worry, not band logos or skate brand logos) but I'm not sure i wanna just stick em on, don't want them to peel off or get scuffed. I'm looking to repaint the bass anyway, so do I put stickers on then lacquer over em after ...

Hey everyone, I've really wanted to learn double bass lutherie since I started playing. I've been looking at my options, and I was wondering what would be my best route. Are luthiers generally willing to take on a student/apprentice, or is it better for me to get plans, and follow the advice of those willing to share it online (double bass making websites)? Is there a school I should go to?...

( A friend of mine builds harps from tacote and insists \(I forget which is best\) that tacote grows in male and female trees, and that one of them is far superior to the other. In any case, it's a truly interesting wood. Looks like low-grade bad mahogany sapwood, perhaps like balsathe resemblance ends therebut has a huge voice. More daunting than laying hands on the woods would be ...

Do you really WANT to build your own CNC machine, or do you NEED a machine to help you with your lutherie work? If you have a business opportunity, then I would recommend you just buy a machine and focus on learning CAD/CAM, etc. If it's not time critical, then building is a fun and rewarding project. I love my DIY machine. It's been a workhorse for me, but it's also consumed endless ...
