I downloaded the new Photoshop Camera RAW 5.6 and the Lightroom 2.6 update yesterday. Today I opened Lightroom 3 beta to fool around with it a bit and noticed the previously disabled luminance slider in the Noise Reduction panel has been activated! Somehow this doesn't make sense to me or have I completely missed something ?

I need to get my luminance to around 105 cd/m2 to match print brightness under display conditions (printer is profiled). I'm calibrating a Dell 2209WA with a Spyder 3 Elite (gamma 2.2, 6500K). The monitor factory defaults are brightness=75, R/G/B=100. I found that if I calibrate leaving the RGB values near the factory default (say 93/96/94 after calibration), and lower the brightness to 10, I'm...

Interresting feature needed ! Up today I think the following tool doesn't exist, so for next version of Lightroom ?! Like curve, the tool would give us the possibility to set the saturation versus luminance. That would solve many problems. Color cast in blown highlights or in dark areas and color speckles in dark areas when the "color noise reduction tool" is not enough for example. But...

Hi, I posted this in open talk as I want a beginners perspective. I pretty much use defaults for noise removal, but would like to learn more about it. Specifically, the effect "Chroma" and "Luminance" sliders have on *generic* software. Is their an online generic beginners guide on noise reduction: not software specific? Thanks in advance. DavidJ.

Hi folks, I've been using LR3 beta for a while now (64 bit version on Windows 7 64 bit) but have just discovered a strange problem with the Luminance noise filter. Can anyone clear this up for me? If you shoot in raw and do some initial color correction in ACR, I assume the bits should be set to 16? That would make sense since you have such a wider spectrum of color, luminance, etc. After finishing in ACR, and opening in PSE, isn't the image then set automatically to 8 bit? And if so, wouldn't that put the kabosh on much of the tweaking that was ...

The distant sun of Munto Codru had plummeted behind the horizon, leaving the crystal clear skies in a pleasant orange afterglow, first few stars glimmering on the other side of the celestial dome where the cloak of the night dragged forwards, dissolving the luminance of dusk on its dismal trail. I have a new dell 2209wa. I wanted to buy a device to calibrate the screen. What is the bare minimum feature to make sure that I have with a new calibrator? What make has that feature if you know? Some have said that 'custom b/w luminance control' is highly desirable? Such as in the SPyder 3 Elite. Not present in the SPyder 3 Pro or SPyder 3 express. I don't know. THanks:

From bluesman43's comment I have a suspicion that Qt libraries and the app itself were built with different versions of compiler. Which is quite possible, since our libraries build is from May.
