I know that the weight of LORs relative to other materials in the admissions process varies between schools and fields. What is your approximation of the relative weight of LORs for top MArch I programs? Can I assume that portfolio really is king in this case, and that an excellent portfolio will trump all, including potential weaknesses in other areas such as LORs?

Our members don't see this ad. How many LORS do I need to get a decent residency in internal medicine. of course scores are important, but one needs LORS too. I have been told that it's the quality and not the quantity that matters. I guess it means a LOR from a reputed staff from GOOD university, or a very long and adulatory LOR from some not-that-bad ...

The transfer application for Florida State University doesnt require any letters of recommendations, personal statements or extracurricular activities. I was wondering if i should or should not send them in anyway to give me a better chance at getting in. (I will be a sophomore transfer) I've already asked two of my professors to send in letters of recommendations on my behalf. The fsu ...

I'm applying to Harvard Law School (I have just recently submitted my application online and the LORs and my transcript should be getting to them soon). I've always wanted to attend Harvard, and it would be great if someone could perhaps share their thoughts on my chances: UGPA: around 3.6 (note that if you exclude my first year, it goes up to a bit above 3.8) LSAT: 169 Some ...

I have a solid academic profile, strong LORs and a great smile. I haven't heard from a few places like: UChicago, Cornell, NYU, and Cedars-Sinai, and BU. Are they still inviting or is the game over? Does Cornell have a waitlist? My dean has offered to make some calls...but I don't know much of an impact that will make. Thanks!

So, at this point in the application cycle, I'm really starting to give up hope...So I e-submitted my app Aug. 15, it was mailed Sept. 1, and my LORs were mailed Sept. 14...this is all according to AADSAS online...I have only heard back from two schools...Loma Linda rejected me faster than the speed of light, and that doesn't surprise me at all, and I have an interview coming up with Columbia Dec...

Hello everyone, I have a few questions regarding letters of recommendation that I hope you can help me with. Most of my application is finished except for the LORs. I currently only have a LOR from a pharmacist I did volunteer work with. Aside from being a remarkable pharmacist (owns a pharmacy chain along with her husband), she's also a long-time family friend so I'm sure her LOR will be...

Is it better to have a higher amount of EC's (i.e. all 15 spots filled or close to it) or to have a greater quality of EC's posted in that section? How many LORs is a good amount? If I know I can get 3 strong ones is it better to just use those 3 or is it a good idea to supplement them with 2 others as well? Thanks guys this site is amazing and saves my "application-life" every day
