Hi! We have uninstalled Search Server 2008 Express and managed to get our WSS 3.0 to work fina efter the uninstallation, but we get loads of errors in the log files in LOGS under 12-Hive. In order to get rid of these we have tried several things. The last thing we tried was to uninstalled WSS, reinstalled it with the old config db and conten db - but still, the log files are filled with errors...

We just transferred all of our publishing points onto a new server and everything is working well, except that the new server is not logging anything. All of the individual publishing points have logging enabled and their monitor windows show that users are watching them, but all of the log files are empty. How can I make the...

What if your database goes down, the log fills up, or your application crashes when its in any kind of un-recoverable state? You want to swallow this and let your app keep running like everything is cool? That's what happens when you catch general exceptions. I suggest you find out why your application is crashing in the first place and fix the actual problem instead of sweeping it under ...

I have the exact same problem, exchange 2007 SP2 on server 2008 in a CCR environment. (no solution yet) When you follow the manual http://www.howexchangeworks.com/2009/08/upgrading- exchange-2007-ccr-to-sp2.html the backup service is only installed on the passive node (when you start) which is the node where /upgradeCMS is first run. After finishing the manual, you can't rerun /...

It seems that the uninstall of MSSX did leave some references behind in the Config DB. Try creating a new farm (new config DB) and attach your content DB's. I never had any issues with attaching an existing content db after a reinstall or on a different server. Why are you removing Search Server ?

For item 4 in the previous post, one option would be to use the local TCP port number. If securecrt displays the port number in the window's title bar or the status bar (status bar makes more sense since it already displays info like #rows, etc), it would make it easy to identify the log file. You could use something like %p to substitute the port number Hari

XANGELX1985 You're the best. after 2 days of searching this was the best solution, everybody is a specialist in theory but nobody in practice. This is great. Thank you for the solution has definitely solved a big issue for me. 500 MB db and 10GB log files. Cheers,
