....I can't put the usual rockwool stuff between the rafters/trusses and staple netting over it to hold it in? I know you can get boards specially for this purpose that stay in themselves through compression only but they are a lot more expensive than the bog standard loft rolls.

I have a central heating boiler with hot water tank an two cold water tanks in loft. The water in the hot water tank is pushing up into cold water tank an obviously making it overflow. I know this because when the hot water has been on the water is warm in the loft. It overflows continously whether hot water is on or not. The only way I can stop it leaking is to turn the stop cock off or ...

Hi there Have a 4 bed semi detached house (stone construction approx 100 years old). About to put a loft room in, no insulation at present. Can anyone recommend which insulation is the best to go for and build reg requirements? I have been told by our local planning dept I dont need to get a building warrant as the loft already has walls, floor and stair case. Want to be energy ...

Hi all, I'm in the first stages of buying a house but I have some questions I hope you can all help with. On viewing the property the vendor explained that the loft had been converted and used as a bedroom, however, no planning permission was sought because although it was used as a room the addition of stairs and two windows didn't increase or alter the structure externally and he isn't...

Hi I'm planning to have my loft converted, and am aware of several key issues, including the need to consider buildings regs requirements, insulation/condensation requirements and load issues on the beams. I'm planning to engage expert help, but will be able to do some of the jobs myself (plastering for example). However, I'd be interested if anyone could recomend any ...

It will be feeding sockets around 7 doubles and 4 lights. I have a single 6mm redundant t/e coming to outside the bathroom that i have easy access to, so my first question is am i ok to use ...

We're about to buy a house, and _next_ _door_ the neighbour has "converted" his loft. He's a roofer, his father is a builder. I don't know them from Adam. The conversion (and the loft!) isn't very tall - it's about 6ft tall along the very middle, but move 1 ft either way and you bang your head. He's using it as his main bedroom - though he said that, if sold, the room couldn't be ...

There isn’t much to see at the official site (actually, nothing at all!), but it does confirm that the rumors we have been hearing about ‘The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff is indeed true!* Keep an eye on that page, details should start appearing soon * Huge thumbs up to SimWay for discovering this! The Jazz Loft Project I highly recommend checking it out . A book, website, radio series, exhibition (that will travel to several other cities)... I've known this was in the works, but to see it finally coming to fruition is pretty amazing. __________________ David Brent Johnson...

Scenario: 15mm rising main into loft. Just before feeding the CWT a 22mm tees off to feed the bathroom. Obviously the pressure in the 22mm will be lower than the 15mm but flow rate should be the same. If at the bath tap end of the 22mm I tee off a 15mm pipe to feed an electric shower, will the pressure in this 15mm be the same as the original rising main (assuming bath tap not running at the ...

Hi all, we are wanting to enlarge our fire place in the lounge. The chimney runs though the first floor and the loft conversion to the top. It has been swept and has passed a pressure test so all ok in that region. It is in the centre of the house and NOT against the adjoining neighbours wall. It was boxed in and we have knocked out the boxing. We have exposed the lintel (metal) and basically...
