The service manual is great at defining the appropriate torque to apply to fasteners. However certain fasteners explicitly say to use loctite, others say nothing. Is there any guidence on what to do when you apply loctite to any of the fasteners that do not explicitly say to use loctite. What has been your practice. Do you still tighten down to the listed torque? I'm always a little concerned ...

I never knew Loctite made so many things. This from Pegasus: New Loctite Products Loctite ® products are the secret weapon of top race mechanics throughout the world. Diligent use of Loctite thread locking compounds does more to improve vehicle reliability than anything else, at any price. Other Loctite products are just as valuable. They allow the professional mechanic to ...

What kind of Loctite should I be using on scope screws and other gunsmithing uses? I've never used it before and I want to make sure that I get the stuff that will work best. Thanks! V.

Hi - I have a small screw hole with factory Loctite in it; what will remove or loosen the old adhesive, not ruin the bluing, and not kill too many brain cells? Thank you - Monty

Has anyone used Extend Rust Treatment by Loctite. I just finish removing all the rust and welding pieces of metal on a porsche front fender which is off the car. I will not be able to do the body work right away so my question is can I used Extend Rust Treatment until I can get to the filling. I will be using Evercoat Rage Gold since there are pinholes. Could I apply the filler over the Extend ...

Remove all Advertisements I just put a new chain and sprockets on my bike this past weekend and I noticed that my front sprocket slides pretty easily on the splines of the output shaft. When I have the lock-ring in place, I can jiggle the sprocket about 1/16" or so on the sprocket from side to side. My original sprocket was tight enough on the ...

Remove all Advertisements Can anyone suggest a shift lever that will last for then just a few rides? I tend to destroy the splines after about an month of riding. I tighten and loctite the bolt every ride as well as cleaning the splines, but they still go away on me. It would be nice to have one with steel splines and an aluminum tip.

I need advice on what kind of glue to get to do my recone. I need something that I can buy locally, rather than have to buy off of the net. I was looking at 5min epoxy or Loctite, but I'm not sure they can be used for everything. The spider is connected to a plastic spider ring, so would either of these hold a metal (basket) to plastic (spider ring) contact? Also the dustcap is plastic, so ...

how long does a cog usually last in terms of the teeth wearing down? I want to know because I have a 48x17 gear ratio with a surly cog and I wanted to loctite the cog onto the hub and didn't want to have to buy new rims that soon. Thanks.

Quote: The problem is that it is so volatile you can't just paint it on. You need a way to make it sit long enough to work, and the screw hole is a good place that will hold on to it. Paint stripper (the old type) is methylene chloride, lacquer thinner, paint thinner, wax, and whatever else the maker decides to throw in. Plain Methylene ...
