Couldn't find my wheel bearing grease but had some lithium grease laying around so I used that for my cog and lockring. If you are unfamiliar, its thicker and stickier than regular grease. Used on suspension and bushings for cars usually. Is this OK for my cog/lockring or for any reason should I clean it off?

Afternoon I'm attempting to change the cassette on the my Trek (see other thread). I have the tools (lockring thingy, and chain whip), but no matter how much force I put into it, the lockring doesnt seem to want to move. Im pretty sure im turning it the right way (opposite way to the Lock arrow). I'm going to take it into my LBS tomorrow to see if they can sort it. However...

document.write(' '); Anybody use the Paul lockring wrench? http://www.paulcomp.com/lockringwrench.html $90 feels a bit excessive but if it's the cat's meow then I might pull the trigger. I currently have a Hozan lockring tool that does the trick pretty well but I was drawn to both the size of the leverage handle and the socket type head ...

document.write(' '); I recently purchased a 68x103 sugino bottom bracket ( http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...roducts_id= 656 ) and did not realize that it did not come with crank bolts or a lockring. What bolts and lockring do I need to make this work? Crank is a Sugino RD and I would much prefer black for both pieces if possible. On...

Did you torque the cassette lockring down to spec? Did you fully seat the wheel in the dropouts and tighten the QR? If so, I would think it will work the same as your SR cassette.

You slide the fork boot down, undo the lockring and let the lockring and flat washer drop down, undo the bolt on top, on the triple clamp, and the whole fork assembly will drop out of the fork tube. Clean the old grease thoroughly off everything, liberally recoat the springs with new grease, and reassemble. HERE is a microfiche diagram of the front fork assembly.

yo, See if turning the hub as you push it in to get it to seat will help also, is the pin in the adjuster nut lined up with the holes on the lock washer? if there is not enough room you may need to push the axle out from behind the spindle with a crow bar to get the snap ring in the groove. once you get the snap ring in thread in 2 of the screws and push the hub in and out. there should ...

Preloading's been covered now. Did you make sure the adjustable perches on the Koni shocks were all in the right place? They should each have three slots for the lockring on an NA. They SHOULD also all come in the middle, but you never know.
