Hey kirupa, I'm using shapes drawn to sprites to try and get a fog of war effect. Basically, I have a large black rectangle that goes over the screen as darkness, and I need to have multiple towers that have vision fields that would cancel out the darkness. I'm using masks too, but I can't get the right effect. Any suggestions?

I had a strange experience in the darkroom this evening. I was contact printing a 5x7 negative, which perhaps has lowish contrast but not to an extreme degree. I had a couple of tries at printing it on Ilford MGIV, with a 7.5W bulb pointed at the ceiling, which I've found I have to do if I want exposure times longer than a few seconds. The results, not to put too fine a point on it, sucked;...

For those of you looking for a flashlight application that uses the droid's LEDs, MotoTorch is a great option. Installs as a widget. One touch turns on the lights, another touch turns them off. Dims the screen quickly. Can also be used to turn on the LEDs for capturing video (which you cant do otherwise). Pretty cool app!

Forever did narrow minded people try to reject whatever scientific facts coming to light. Again in 2009, for subjective unjustifyable reasons or by pure lack of intelligence, some people do try to negate the obvious (climate changes and its source). Just to remind an historic fact here is an example of other such behaviors: Galileo's championing of Copernicanism was controversial within...

I have used the 2million candle power lights for a long time. They work fine and the light is kinda orange. You can gel 'em blue to balance or adjust your white balance, depending on what you are doing. I paint with them, cars and motorcycles... I have never used them stationary as a hot light, but I guess it could work. I don't think they are all the powereful though. Anyway,...

Thanks for the help, everyone. It sounds like the bounce really is at fault. I'll try to cook up some sort of arrangement for reducing the light---I hesitate to put something over the printing frame, because then I can't see the image to dodge/burn, but I think I can rig something to hold a sheet of plexi up at the light itself. -NT
