I've been working out recently. Soon my brother's friend who is an army veteran in off time, said that working out can stun the growth in my legs. Causing my current height to be the same. Is this true?

This has been going on for about 3 days now. I all of sudden developed a pain in the back my hand, that hurts when I bench. Heres a sample pic of where the pain is, I circled it. Also, the pic looks kinda tricky, but it's a backhand view, so keep in mind that the pain is at the back of my hand. Feels like it's on the bone leading to my index finger, right below my knucle. When I'm not ...

I've been lifting weights at my home for the past three months using 15 pound weights.  I recently got a membership at the gym, and there are so many machines!  I don't know where to start.  I have a consultation with one of the personal trainers tomorrow though, and he's going to walk be through all of the different machines.  What do you guys do for weight lifting in the gym?  Thanks so much ...

I couldnt get my answer in other sections and I couldnt find any articles. Please if you guys know any tell me. I have been doing 10-20 rep range and 4-10 rep ranges. and when I do the high reps I FEEL like I am doing much better for my body and I will be growing more muscle later. But when I do low reps, I do not get any pump and that confident feeling does not come to me. what am I doing ...

I'm not a body builder by any stretch of the imagination. However, I enjoy lifting weights now into my 2nd week. I've always heard that you don't do the same muscles two days in a row but I've also heard that doesn't apply to all muscles. I do cardio on the treadmill every day, 7 days a week. What if anything, can I do every day as far as weight training?

If i lift weights, lets say quads, core and upper body (everything haha..) how long does it take before those muscles are ready to go 100% for tennis? I have tried to play 24 hours after, and i have no power at all, legs feel sluggish etc. But a couple days later i feel great and feel stronger on the court. So i was curious what is the science behind lifting weights and what is does to the ...

Okay I know this may sound kinda stupid but ever since I started lifting weights I've been noticing I'm playing slower. especially on my alternate picking stuff. Is it just me or has anyone else had this problem? Is there any way to keep my speed while lifting weights? I think I'm getting slower because I'm losing flexibility or something like that. thanks

Thanks for the replies and the info. I'm gonna use Whey Protein most likely, if it starts to break me out I'll probably switch to some kind of meal plan that would add weight and take it from there until my skin gets better. And about the question on lifting, is it true that the adrenaline/testosterone from lifting can break you out or is this a myth?

you can work out your abs everyday but that's pretty much it, maybe your forearms to. I would recommend either doing upper body one day lower body the next day then resting one day, or doing a 3-4 day split like mon-chest,triceps tues-back,biceps wed=legs ,calves thursday-shoulders traps fri-rest sat-rest or start again, and adding abs at the end of all your workouts.

Lifting free weights will also work the small muscles around the major muscle groups.  Some people call them stabilizing muscles.  If you're using machines you will not get the balance that you will with free weights. There is nothing wrong with using some machines sometimes.  I do mostly free weights but nearly all of my routines include using a machine or two.
