Lewy Body Dementia

My husband was formally diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2005 and Parkinson's in January of this year. He now is about a Stage 6. After reading about Estelle Getty dying with Lewy Body Dementia, I have done some research on it. Evidently, it is not a rare disease and many people with alzheimers and Parkinson's are misdiagnosed and really do have LBD. My husband has many of the symptoms of LBD....

Well, what I can tell you is that my mother was mis-diagnosed by her primary before we finally learned she had FrontoTemporal Dementia - certainly a horse of a different color! There is a Social Worker, LCSW, who works very actively with dementia families and patients through the Alz's Assn. In years past, she worked with GeroPsych. Very skilled, very experienced. Sounds like an awful disease with and awful name. I knew Estelle was suffering for the longest time. I'm glad she's not anymore. RIP.
