Lantus is so much better as far as efficacy. We are truly a 2x basal. Every endo I speak to confirms that Levemir is weak like its marketing and poor studies. I should have stayed at Sanofi. Im not making $$$

He is supposed to get 2.5 levemir at 8 and I gave him 2.5 rapid....which means 60 extra carbs ...except that he is bs is measuring hi right now....my dh who is at a football game right now doesn't think that I should give him his full dose of levemir now but I think I should. Anyone have an opinion as to whether using a few remaining Levemir Pens with an expiration of 10/2009 is a bad idea? They would probably carry me through the end of November. Is the expiration meant for the beginning or end of the month? I haven't called the manufacturer as I'm sure they would tell me to get rid of them. I think that I finally have talked Michael into splitting his Levemir dose but don't know how to split it. He now takes it at 9pm and by dinner the next day, it starts to go away. The timing is not terrible, but it leaves him no flexibility to eat late unless he corrects. I know that others here have said that you don't HAVE to take it 12 hours apart and that some don't have an even split. ...

It was bound to happen at least once, I guess. Bad Mom award to me right now. Her normal dose is 2 units of Levemir at bedtime. It's now 6:15 am. Should I just give her 1 unit? Then at bedtime tonight go back to 2 units? Her blood sugar right now is 207 - not as bad as I thought it would be.

I seem to be going into Levemir honeymoon at 35 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last year. OK I've got good news and not so good news. Hobo is responding to the Levemir. In fact, his blood sugar went down too far so they gave him a snack and they may or may not give him a dose of insulin at 6:00. If they do and/or if they wait for 6:00 tomorrow, he will get less than 4 units. That's obviously too much with the Levemir. The not so good news is that his PLI test came back high. ...

And it is 5.6 I switched from NPH to Levemir about 4 months ago and have never had such good control. My last A1c was 6.2 on NPH with lots of lows, I now no longer have this problem with Levemir.
