Hi to all! I am new on Levemir and am splitting dose between am and pm . I also take Novolog to bolus 2 or 3 times a day. I am still getting high bg readings in the mornings and feel really bad. The worst thing is that during the middle of the night I have rapid, pounding heartbeat that wakes me up. I don't know how to adjust my insulin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bernstein has an "approximate action times of preferred insulins" in his book The complete diabetes solution, in which the action time for Levemir or Lantus, (put in the same category) is: 18 hours if injected in the morning; 8-9 hours if injected at bedtime (apparent). This apparent phenomenon of Lantus or Levemir action being cut in half if at night, is quite surprising to me! I hadn't ...

Hi everyone, So I recently switched from Lantus to Levemir keeping about the same dosage once per day (about 6 pm). Things seem to be pretty good, even nearing the end of the 24 hours, except for a dawn phenomenon (or pseudo DP) issue. I deal with it by taking an extra unit of short acting with my breakfast bolus (during the week around 7:30 am) or waking up early, if need be, to take it on ...

I just dropped off a prescription for Levemir Penfill Cartridges at CVS and was told they don't have them and can't get them, so I just got the Flexpens. Novolog Penfills were no problem. I'd think that the penfills would be more popular because there's so much less plastic waste. There I go thinking again ! Anyone out there use the Levemir Penfills? Where do you get them? Thanks,...

Apparently I am having an allergic reaction to the Levemir injections my doctor put me on. I have developed itchy, red, circular (some swollen) patches everywhere I have given myself an injection. I'm 37 weeks pregnant (tomorrow) and have been on insulin for about 4.5 weeks...before that I was on glucophage pills that made me sick...so they took me off that...they are now changing me to NPH...

I watch the postings continually come up regarding the possiblility of dropping Levemir from our bag of products. This announcement will be made December 1st. Don't believe me? Just wait and see. First time you are hearing this?? Where have you been? Pull your head out. Levemir is a loser product that should have never come to market. It will be pulled for a number of reasons . . . 1st ...

Lantus is so much better as far as efficacy. We are truly a 2x basal. Every endo I speak to confirms that Levemir is weak like its marketing and poor studies. I should have stayed at Sanofi. Im not making $$$

Let's pretend the launch is going to occur in the first quarter 2010. How is this going to look? Will the entire sales force launch, or will the E/IDCS's carry the burden for the first phase? What will the DCS's then be doing? Levemir/NL/NM? How will the Blockbuster Sales Force launch this product? Is the launch meeting the National POA in Vegas? If the E/I's are first string, ...

My name is Lou and I am a 55 year old from Brooklyn, New York. My doctor had started me on insulin flexpens in March 2009. Six months later I now take 40 units of Humalog 3x a day and 60 units of Levemir once a day. I hope to learn from all of you on how to cope with diabetes. I think this a great forum and I am so glad I stumbled upon it. In closing I am scared to death I won't get to see my ...

ramon~ I've tried every oral drug available over the years and I always come back to Glipizide-it does the trick for me. My past Endo told my he wouldn't give it to his dog. He insisted I switch to Januvia which did nothing for me. I discovered later that he was involved in a study with Januvia-ahhh no wonder!!

Hi and Welcome to Diabetes Daily. I am a type 1 Diabetic for 34years and also take Levemir split dose and Apidra (short acting). Test Blood Glucose before going to bed, eat a snack if low. High morning BG can be because you were low during the night. Important to test, test, test. Have you spoken to your doctor/ endo ? Don't adjust insulin unless you have your dr's "ok". All the best. ...
