Would the Harbor Freight 34706 Lathe be an upgrade from a Ridgid Lathe WL1200? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=34 706 Have you seen it on sale in recent time for less than the current $229 price. I have a 20% coupon to add to that. Also has anyone seen a lower price than $69 for this turning set? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=34 706 It has a bit thicker...

I mostly lurk in the background however, I do need a little help with this one. I have a wood shop and do a lot of hobby and freebie work. I don't have a wood lathe. I am not looking to get into turning but, I would like to have a lathe. I found a lathe on craigslist and wondered if you guys know if it is worth the asking price. This is the listing http://knoxville.craigslist.org/tls/...

I own a small (7" x 12") metalworking lathe. Any suggestions as to small projects (gunsmithing)? I use it for most of my case prep work, chucking the primer pocket uniformer (or flash hole deburrer), (or inside chamfer tool), (or outside chamfer tool), (or brush for neck cleaning) into the three jaw chuck, but I ought to be able to do more than simply use it as a power head. I did ...

When I built my CNC table a few years ago I built it with the idea of putting the 4th axis on the side. I am finally getting around to working on it some. The "lathe" can be moved up or down in and out to adjust for sizes up to 24" diameter. 2 trailer jacks are used to raise and lower the lathe. The lathe is attached to the table in away that it can slide up and down....

I'm about to help a friend part out an SB 9 inch lathe - it's complete, some surface rust, looks like it will clean up well, but we both think we will get around $600 for parts and a lot less than that for the whole lathe - but it's a bunch of work, so if anyone would like the lathe for $400, please contact me right away - it's near Los Angeles - get my email off my web page below. ...

Some bottle stoppers And a few pens Let's not forget the hook files There is one more hook file done, but not pics as of yet. It is a curly maple and some burl lamination...

I am looking for some info on a Cincinnati 13 hydroshift lathe. I am thinking about buying it, it runs and ways seems tight. The issue is about 1/2 of the gears do not work. Seller says a shaft has a broken key or keys. I dod quite a bit of searching on machinist sites but have found very little on this lathe.

here's my first use of my first shop made steady rest. based it on designs i saw here and elsewhere. not too pretty, but is working very well so far. i'm riding the lathe here, also, trying to hollow a (for me) very tall cherry form. don't really have enough room for this - from time to time it gets pretty crowded in here . i'll post the form when completed.

Hi all, I was given an old Craftsman lathe by my father a few weeks ago. I posted a few questions here at the time and received some great advice. Thank you all. Well tonight I finally got around to putting the lathe on the stand and trying it out for the first time. Here are some pictures of the result. http://s684.photobucket.com/albums/v...%20Nov%2020 09/ I would greatly ...

My wife's 3520b Christmas present has arrived far earlier than I expected. Now I have to figure out where to hide it until Christmas. It's not like I can stick it on the top shelf of the closet. Seriously, though, this is my first experience setting up a "real" lathe. Any tips on doing it right the first time?

Recently I have been embarking/watching an AMC channel series The Prisoner. It revolves around a man who discovered that he can create a different realm of consciousness to exist in parallel to the world we live in. In this consciousness he knows not of the real world and in this consciousness other people from real world can exist and have children....

These are 2 bowls a friend of mine turned for me...you could say he's sort of my mentor on bowl and vase turning! The 1st is out of one of those Birdseye Maple caps I have...see my thread on the clocks! The second is from Amboyna Burl with a touch of sapwood. Enjoy! I'll add a few more pics later of a vase he turned for me in Amboyna Burl! (see new thread for the VASE).

I've kept a complete Anilam Crusader M system as a spare for my mill, though I've toyed with the concept of converting a Clausing lathe to NC... Does anyone know if a Mill control can be converted to Lathe, and if so which boards would need be modified / replaced? Thanks-
