Laquer on Cast Iron - What will stand the test of time? An odd one this:- I have two very heavy 6 foot cast iron posts from a reclaimation yard , (complete with 200 years of paint). They actually resemble two cannons in shape and thickness. The plan is to use them as posts for a porch on a stone base (Bear with me - design idea ...

Ok so my chassis is painted for Project Slumber Parties (although thread needs to be updated) Now I need a sleek clear protecting spray over the entire job. What is more durable a laquer sealer or I already have a can of Krylon Triple Thick Clear Glaze. What have you all used on your cases?

Good results can be produced and yes it will stop the peeling. I have seen the stickers shrink back in the heat of the sun though. The only thing to consider would be that if you put it down the road in a big way and and go through to the sticker you wont be able to just peel it off and plonk a new one on.

Guys thanks for the input, I will switch to the Urethane. I did see that @ Eastwood last night. I do have my Firewall already painted in the Lacquer. I am sure if it is not a perfect color match it won't be too noticible. Thanks again for the help. Matt

Laquer thinner works the best. If the part is aluminum FORGET about burning it off. The part will be junk. Laquer thinner it, rinse, blast it after that. Then you must PREBAKE the part. If you do not and you powder right after blasting, you risk whats called outgassing

The brass on the first one has a bit of a polished and/or cleaned appearance, Rich's (nice one!) has the laquer residue. Mine falls into the second = reddish category, seeing these pics. This UK dealer has three wonderful BFPs in stock (scroll down, click the pics, very nice images), and the first two seem to look more yellow to me, but I'm not sure that the difference in patination isn't...
