I have to send my iMac 27 back to apple for replacement (flickering screen issue) and I would like to erase my personal information. How do I do that on a Mac? I have a Lacie Drive connected via Firewire 800 and have been using Time Machine for backups. I also want to make sure that I have a complete backup as well. I am new to Mac OS X...

I have two spare Lacie brand Electron 22 Blue III monitors. These are huge flat CRT (tube) monitors. Before LCD's took hold, these 22" monitors were the way to go if you were into 3D modeling. They have a max resolution of 2048x1536 and on screen display features. They were well cared for and work flawlessly. I have no need for these any longer and wish to sell, trade or GIVE them ...

I have a Dell Latitude E6400 and an E-Port replicator all running XP SP3. I am trying to get a LaCie USB 1TB Ext HDD up and running. It installed and seemed to run OK for about 1 hour then things started going downhill. Most of the time the computer will not recognize the drive, on these occasions the system locks up when I click on anything, the mouse moves but I get the hourglass symbol. I ...

My PowerBook G4 (running OS 10.4.11)was just stolen, but Providence has it that the thief left me with my backup hard drive (which was on the same table), to which I had just backed up 4 hours before. Without my own computer, how can I retrieve this data from my Lacie hard drive? To complicate matters I am in Costa Rica and access to Macs is likely not going to be easy. Multiple ...

My Lacie 2b External HDD manual says I should only ever dsconnect the drive by Safely Removing Hardware in Windows. That's fine it makes sense. But is it OK to turn it off using the ON/OFF switch once the computer has shut down, and then disconnect it? Because that's how I've been doing it up until now. Secondly, it also says in the manual to keep the drive away from TVs because they can ...

Must be the season for new computers. I have a 5 year old Dell running WinXP Pro and PSE 7 which I'm about to replace with a beefed up HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Professional. I've ordered PSE 8 for the new machine. I have (assuming LaCie really has fixed it!) a networked backup drive, so I expect to have a full backup of my documents and photos from which I can restore. Is there any way I...

I am working on a FCP project (5.0.4) on a laptop with 5 external LaCie drives. When I attempt to render the project it only goes to about 23% (everytime) and gives me the perpetual rainbow ball. I go to FORCE QUIT and select FCP (which shows it is not responding). It doesn't close. I then hold the start button to shut it down and start all over, never getting anything rendered. I've tried ...

Hello all, Recently I have noticed a severe decline in my FCP's ability to play back sequences in NTSC/DV 29.97. I'm running on a 15" MBP with 4Gb of RAM, using a LaCie 250Gb and a Lacie 1Tb drive over FW800. I have in the past cut a feature length doc in DVCProHD 720p24 on Iomega FW800 drives without any difficulties on this very same system. I'm running FCP 6.0.3 under OS x 10....

I have implemented TM with a LaCie external hard drive. Everything is going fine but after reading up about TM on these discussion boards, I realize it is only an archiving application, although a very good one. So, in addition to TM, I would like to have a bootable clone and use the same external hd for both TM and Carbon Copy Cloner. Can I reformat my LaCie and then partition it ...
