I am trying to rank my three choices: USC, Western, and LLU. My first choice is USC because it has a great reputation in this region, lots of networking, and is ranked #15 according to US News 2008. I am a little undecided on my second top choice. For LLU and Western, I plan on saving $$ on food/rent and commute to these schools. LLU is 40 min away, while Western is only 14 min away. I ...

Been with AOL for over 8 years but got call from O2 who offer LLU which they say means faster speeds. They are also cheaper as we have 02 mobile BUT we have never switched providers so there is fear factor. Can you say:- 1. Would this be a good switch? 2. Would I still be able to keep AOL email address accessing it through webmail as I do at present? 3. Is it just a ...

Been with Xilo on their Home 16 LLU service for about a month now. Just wanted to say I wish I'd done this sooner. My line isn't brilliant only managing some 3 megs sync at best. But at least now the throughput is as fast as this will allow at all times of the day. It's like beeing back with F2S in the early days before the big boys got hold of them. I would recommend anyone thinking of ...

The house I've just moved into has a telephone line currently with Sky. I'm not interested in Sky TV so was planning to activate the line with BT, and then take out one of the O2 LLU deals for broadband. Am I allowed to do this? I think I'd have to sign a 12 month contract with BT, and am a bit confused whether I'd then be able to go onto O2 LLU straight away - or does this effectively ...

I've wondered about this question for a while, as it seems many LLU providers already have VDSL2 support at their DSLAM/ISAM.... *cough*Be*cough* I've previously been lead to believe that Ofcom did not allow VDSL to be deployed from the exchange but I don't actually remember seeing any evidence for this being based on anything. Reading the ANFP: http://www.niccstandards.org.uk/...

Just wondering if O2 have started throttling their LLU service at peak times. I am on a long line and have been consistently getting 2.5Mb for the last year. This morning I notice my speed is 1.3Mb with no other change in line stats. Phoned O2 but all they did was set my SNRM to 3dB which resulted in my line resetting every 2 minutes but when it did sync was near enough the ...

I've signed up for LLU (O2 premium going live on the 12th) this time as my exchange has just been enabled and am looking for advice regarding the "training period", and subsequent tweaking to get the best compromise between speed and stability. I have read elsewhere that there is a difference between BTs DLM and O2s. A period of 3 days rather than 10 days has been mentioned, and the ...

OK - this is my Exchange so I can't get any decent LLU services so will need a classic ADSL package. Currently on BT Option 3 but due to the 100gb limit on their unlimited service I want out from them. Main requirements are no restrictions between midnight & 6am when I download stuff. Was considering o2 as wife has a iphone with them so get the cheaper rate and I believe their ...

I'm getting a bit fed up with my ISP (Titan). We have 8MB/s connection on a standard BT ADSL line (not LLU), and I'm thinking of getting a 24Mb/s connection with Xilo on O2/Be's LLU network. A while ago Tiscali switched us to their LLU service without our consent, and when we subsequently migrated to a non-LLU ISP we were without Internet access for a week while we waited for BT's hardware ...

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/SLBWD As you can see my exchange is apparently enabled for LLU with AOL and TalkTalk - my area isnt cable. I rang up TalkTalk to get some info on them putting a new phone line in my new build and was only offered to normal ADSL, he said my max speed would be 2.5mbps (confirmed by their site). Is it something I have to ask for on the phone or would...

Hi everyone, I've just reached the end of my 18 month BT Total Broadband contract and am on the lookout for a better deal if it's possible. I'm living in a Market 1 exchange area where I only have access to BT Wholesale providers (No LLU here). I've looked at Plusnet (Owned by BT) and O2 as possible replacements, quidco have good cashback deals for both but overall I think I can get my BB...

In moving from Virgin Media to an LLU provider (most likely Xilo), I am needing to find a new modem/router for a 16Mb ADSL2+ connection. I currently use a D-link DGL-4300 which has proven to be quite unreliable (might be something to do with the firmware v1.8 - if I was to continue using it I would flash it with v1.6) I also have an old Netgear DG834G sat in the loft, which was ...

Hi My local exchange is labelled as Market 1 by OFCOM / BT, but in the past two years two LLU operators (CPW and Orange) have added equipment to the exchange. Should the exchange (Almondsbury) be upgraded to Market 2 and would this reduce the cost of my Broadband connection?

DIdnt want to go for BT but as I am in a small town and no LLU it was that or O2 access, shame also BT wanted £125 for reconnection but offered it free if I signed up with them. First question is self explanitory, how do I check line stats as the broadband and phone line was turned on about 3pm today and I got 2 meg at first then shot to 4 meg then down to 1 meg then up to 6 meg(all ...

Just curious, which schools offer entry-level MOT programs? I only know of LLU (I'm attending in June), but I have a friend who was NOT accepted to the LLU program and does not hold a Bachelors. What other schools could she apply for? I know it's pretty late to be applying for this year, but just curious. I hate that she has to wait an entire year to reapply. thanks :-)

I would like to stay in Southern CA to be closer to my family and friends, so that means Touro, UCSF, UOP, and CA-Northstate are not in the discussion. Also, I was rejected from UCSD, so that's out too. That leaves me three choices: LLU, USC, and Western. I'm accepted to LLU, but on hold for the other two. My first choice is USC because it has a great reputation in this region, lots of ...

In reply to a post by ukfsn : We've had a lot of customers contact us this morning reporting that they are unable to connect. Having raised the issue with them C&W have confirmed that there is a major systems outage which is affecting lots of customer connections. Those affected will have line sync (router will report upload and download connection speed) but wont be able to ...

AOL is not LLU'd at your exchange, but O2/Be is. So, yes, switch to O2 as long as they don't offer you O2 Access, which they could do if their LLU is full. You could get speeds up to 10 Meg. In reply to a post by stuallie : If I just use my existing router after its been adjusted, then would the wireless laptop just log on to it as normal or would it need adjusted in anyway? Yes, ...
