CREE is involved with LED lighting. Another company in lighting and displays is PANL that specializes in and holds patents on much of the OLED lighting tech used mainly in small screens (like for cellphones). The tech is not mature enough for white lighting yet (and CREE's LEDs are too blue-white to be acceptable for residential lighting, which is a huge potential market for both), nor for larger...

Looking at small lamps to buy for the lamp post on the front walk, I was surprised to see that the much more expensive LED lamps only had a specified lifetime of 15,000 hours. The incandescent bulbs had a lifetime of 2,500 hours. So the LED lasts 6 times longer, though costs something like 30 times more. It looks like the reduced cost to power the lamp approximately compensates this, and they ...

What do you guys think of this setup? Any opinions? I purchased this package a couple months ago......I was looking for ease of use and fast setup and breakdown. I think this system is amazing. My only complaint is that I had to take a screwdriver and tighten all of the screws because this thing was just slapped together.... ....AND I personally think a big rack of lights is tacky....

I have been looking for LED setups and I have found one that supposedly is as bright as an HPS. It's the HS 51 LED lights and sounds efficient since you don't have to replace bulbs all the time. I have looked and can't find the ones I saw online for sale. I am kinda skeptical but I am ready to start growing soon and want to find this system. I am going to go with DWC and LED.

The topic of LED lighting keeps coming up....and even though I don't think it is 'there' just yet....it's getting close.... LED's With a Punch has some good general info on LED's. Don't forget that some of the light output (lums) claims can be misleading......you have to take into consideration that LED's are highly directional... I'm still using CFL's....but keeping an eye on ...
