Highlands Prehistoric Museum will be closing its Cookeville site permanently on Thursday, Dec. 31, to move to a new location in Kingsport. I went wandering around White City and Fairacres near downtown Kingsport tonight. With only 4" of white stuff on the ground as of 10 pm, we're not getting as much as surrounding areas but this is one of the prettiest snows I've ever seen.

Have you checked out Agota Springs in Kingsport? I know they do weddings there and that they are a Spa and they have the houses on property that can be rented, just not sure if you could do that and not having the wedding or reception there? We visited Cades Cove over the weekend. We live in Kingsport, TN which is upper east corner of TN. We were wondering if it would have been quicker to go to Maryville and hit the interstate back east towards Kingsport rather than going back through Townsend, Wears Valley Road, parkway, then interstate ? That's wonderful for Kingsport and a great opportunity for the museum owners, but a HUGE bummer for my family and others in the Nashville area. Cookeville is just a hour's drive from here; a quick trip for my 9 year-old future paleontologist to get her dinosaur fix. We're heading to the museum this week to get one last visit in before the move since we'll rarely be able to drive 5 hours one ...
