Does this mean that the field is laying one kilometer from the place where she stands and looks at it? Or the field is one kilometer long? Or its surface is one square kilometer? Later in the book it is written that the field is "about the size of two soccer fields"....

So, this past Sunday, I ran the Gift 5K. As I'm on the move I notice something, no mile markers! Only kilometer markers! I was really thrown off. I'm only used to mile splits. I had no clue if I was on pace or not. Now, I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. Is this something thats becoming more common? I've never seen it before, but I kind of hope the mile markers stick around. I don't know ...

Driving passed the other day I saw a strange white duck, which was rather unusual because we only get Pacific Black Ducks and Wood Ducks around here. It was still there on the way home (in the exact same spot mind you) so later that afternoon the missus and I decided to go check it out. Turns out it was a Muscovy Duck. We decided to ...

My husband, baby son & I would like to self-drive around many of Tanzania's national parks for 15 during Feb-March 2010. The problem is the prices are exorbitant. We've been quoted between 3000-4000 USD and this only included 1800 free kilometers. Every extra kilometer was 0.08 USD plus 18% VAT! We are flying into Dar and plan to drive up to Arusha and do all the major national parks in...
