I fired up my brand new kiln, heated my blade to the EXACT temp that the steel manafacture recomended and then quenched it. Then I did this several more times, closely monitering the temp of my quench oil and the kiln. No cracks, no warping, no ...

I had a Paragon 24D with argon gas injection and although it's a nice premise, it didn't work so I'm looking at another kiln. I thinking of an Evenheat 22.5 and I would like some opinions on Evenheat and some suggestions on other kiln manufacturers as well. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.....

I am thinking about having a go with coco peat brick mixed with kiln dried sand which I think is basically play sand but I was wondering if the sand would go mouldy and smelly as I need a high humidity.

Welcome to the club friend I realised early on that the prettiest knife in the world wasn't worth a if it hadn't been heat treated properly, but even an ugly knife with good steel, well heat treated, would cut forever That was why a Even Heat KF22.5 was the first thing I spent money on for my knife making hobby after files and abrasive paper. Yes, the FIRST thing. I knew I'd be spending ...

The thought of an insulated shipping container, heated by an OWB has crossed my mind for a firewood kiln. I'd have to be moving a lot more wood than the little I sell now to make it profitable.
