there was a rumor about the braves and willingham floating around. surely vasquez can fetch a bigger piece than that. but i can see kawakami for willingham straight up. could the braves use him at 1st if his defense is a concern in the OF? then they don't worry about having to sign laroche to a longterm deal that would block freeman. that also means that vasquez and lowe wouldn't be ...

How about a Kawakami for Willingham trade with the Nats. Willingham is an ideal cleanup hitter and his stats in that position over the last 4 years prove so. Good OBP, Slugging in 4 spot and should be good for 25-30 HR's in that spot. He is the RH LF that we need and decent defender. He is arb. eligible in '10 and '11 and will most likely command $5MM in '10 with Nats. Nats need pitching ...

Apparently, the Brewers are looking to add starting pitching this offseason. The Braves will probably be shopping Derek Lowe or Kenshin Kawakami in order to save salary, and they need to add a corner outfielder. What would you guys think of a trade involving Corey Hart for either Lowe or Kawakami? Thanks.

Nothing wrong with a rotation of Vazquez Hudson Jurrjens Hanson Medlen/FA journeyman That would get rid of ~ $22 million in payroll, maintain a very good rotation and hopefully get two hitters

They are talking about trading vasquez or Kawakami and pondering as to whether or not to sign Laroche. I'd like to see Laroche resigned and then a big left fieldbat on top of that, but I'd really like to keep Vasquez at the same time.

Tim Hudson just re-upped with the Braves, 3/$28M. So they now have 6 starters - Hudson, Vazquez, Lowe, Kawakami, Jurrjens, and Hanson. They're going to have to unload someone - likely Lowe because of his contract. Any thoughts on what it takes to pry Lowe (or Vazquez or Kawakami) out of Atlanta?

Hudson move isn't a surprise at all, since most every Braves fan has said it would happen since August. Unfortunately this probably means Javier Vazquez will now be traded, which I think will be one of worst mistakes in a long time. Hopefully its Lowe or Kawakami thats traded.

Wow! Lowe had a bad year last year but he would not be a #5 pitcher on any team in major league baseball. As for Kawakami he had an excellent rookie year last year and has a very affordable contract (he is only owed 6 mil for each of the next two seasons). He would have been a #3 starter on several teams in baseball last year. I am guessing that both of these guys will be back in Atlanta ...

The Braves are looking for a power hitting right handed bat, for 1st (if they can't resign LaRoche), or a corner outfielder. Jair Jurrjens and Tommy Hanson are untouchable for the obvious reasons. While it might seem like Kawakami to the pen makes sense, he was excellent most times out as a starter, and was only moved to the pen at the end of the season because 1) he's still adjusting to ...
