I haven't used Knoppix in ages and I was going to download version 6.2 which is the latest. I recall back in the day and I mean over 4 or 5 years ago Knoppix had issues writing to NTFS partitions. Is this still an issue? If I booted off a Knoppix CD on a Windows machine will I be able to move data from one NTFS drive to another? If I can does the NTFS file permissions or anything else get messed...

Hi, I've had a copy of Knoppix for years. I think it is version 3, anyway it is several years old and works well. I thought i'd update it and so downloaded 6.2 CD. When it booted up it goes to a text interface.I looked through the options and it had a graphical version of firefox listed so I tried that and it started loading but then the monitor went into standby. So I then ...

Has anyone dealt with this issue. I'm trying to get some pictures off my cell phone micro sd card and nothing I have tryied works. Maybe my intel internal multi card reader does not support micro sd in a SD adapter. I have gotten a standard SD card to read in Ubuntu 8.10 but not 9.04 or 9.10 . I thought something like that should just work if its going too. Thanks

So, I was looking through old CD's for OSes and drivers, and found the CD that a local computer repair shop burnt for me when I paid them $80 to save my music/ off an old HDD a bunch of years ago (had a hilariously bad smithfrog). One of the few things I think Windows does well (well, definitely better than "us") is hibernating. You can actually notice how the hard drives don't seem to be powered and even the fans stop spipping I have tried hibernating under both, knoppix 6.2 and Ubuntu 9.10 and none of them get it right. Is there any Linux distro that does? Why is that? Thanks lbrtchx

Until recently I used Knoppix 5.1.1 to enable me to copy and paste between two drives both having Linux filesystems. Knoppix 5.1.1 cannot handle my latest system and stops at an all-too-minimal command-line login. The Knoppix 6.0 found on a LinuxFormat front cover was equally poor. Can anyone recommend something as flexible as that early Knoppix system?
