I will be losing the JB in about 2 months and then i believe i will be means tested. Anyone know what is involved in a means test? Will i need to hand over financial details regarding my parents is my main question? I am 27 and living at home with the folks (just reading that sentence depresses me!!).

Hi all, I've worked from may 2007 to may 2009 and then was made redundant . I made a claim in september 2009 for jobseekers allowance, but they claim I haven't paid enough NI contributions in tax year 06-07. But I didn't work in tax year 06-07. The job centre tell me I should receive jobseeker allowance because I worked 2 years. But everytime I call jobseeker in Glasgow, they tell me only...

Hi all, My wife worked for 5 years in England, is an EU citizen (with permanent residence -meaning she should be treated same as uk citizen) and left for a university course but quit to take a more career based approach to her development. Hello I had made a claim for Jobseekers allowance a month ago. I was given a form saying the following: "While waiting for a decision on your claim, you are requested to sign in at this office every four weeks between 2 pm and 4 pm starting Monday, 02/11/2009. Hatch xx will be open....etc." My claim has not had a decision made on it yet. I had forgot about the signing day because I was down ...

Hey there. I applied for joint jobseekers allowance with my partner on the 11th only to find a week later that somewhere between their office and the main office they have lost my paperwork and I now have to re-apply. Does anyone know if my jobseekers allowance will be backdated from my original date of application or if I lose out? Many thanks.

I know one is allowed to work up to 16 hours per week and still claim JSA (contribution based in this case). If one does, say, one day casual work, is the benefit reduced/disallowed just for that day, or are the earnings assessed on a weekly basis? Scott.
