Well I've finally had the first major problem with my 03 Protege. I don't drive it much, so I've been ignoring the squeaking serpentine belt. Apparently it shredded itself, which stopped the water pump, which cracked the radiator. The crack is right where the upper hose comes in. So I got the belt on, and my mechanic friend is telling me that I should just let the crack dry and then put some...

I have just recently stripped my lockring threads and I wanted a "just in case" sealant/adhesive to protect against any cog slippage. Which sealant/adhesive would be best?

I'm going to be building my first keggle next week and I am trying to figure out if it would make sense to JB weld the stainless coupling to the keggle instead of doing the weldless fitting. My though is that it might save a few bucks and be a simpler setup. But i'm concerned because I haven't seen any pics of anybody else doing this. Will it work? Is there any reason I shouldn't try this? ...

I am interested in hearing all the stories of diy fixed that you guys have done with jb weld. I've heard some pretty crazy stories of the stuff lasting for years and parts working for years after jb weld repairs. I've never used it on cars, but for plenty of other things for sure. so, lets hear those stories! _________________ 1987 vanagon gl - 2.1l with the only good gex engine ...

So since I put the race baffles in my stock exhaust I have had the rivent come loose or pop off NUMEROUS times. I have tried larger rivets even, and they still came loose. So after being frustrated with the damn thing, I purchased 2 tubes of JB weld, took all the rivets out, roughed up the areas that overlap on the exhaust and JB welded the hell out of the exhaust's including the holes where the...

Appear to have a leak on the top engine studs at the back of the engine. Does not drip on the floor but does leak a small amount. Doesn't appear to be the case seam as there is virtually no oil on the other side of the case. More annoying than anything else. Should I use JB weld on the stud side of the engine or just put a dab of clear RTV over the studs?

OK folks need your advice. Long story short, after initial painting and pin-striping on my gas tank I decided that the angle the tank when its on the back bone will only allow a certain amount of miles before the fuel gets too low for the petcock. So rather than welding and causing too much heat to go through the paint I used JB Weld to secure a newly made tube to be positioned far lower down ...

Oh I'm definitely keeping my eyes open. My buddy put me onto RadiatorBarn.com, says they come highly recommended, plus they're literally 15 minutes away from me. $100. That seems to be in line with the other prices I'm seeing. I think that's what I'll end up doing, JB weld it for now just to get it into running condition again and get the new radiator in a little bit.
