Is there something obvious to adjust to take the tension off of the extension(closing) of the top so as to make it easier to get it latched? Do the side cables allow for adjustment to help with this? I haven't tried it yet, since the Convertible Top Installation guide doesnt mention anything about my problem.

What seems to help with mine is the hot sun...provided you wash the car or at least get the top good and wet. Allowing it to dry in the top-up, stretched position does stretch it and make it easier to close. I noticed mine gradually getting harder to latch each year as it slowly shrank...this definitely seems to help.
