OMG. Amanda Freitag is eliminated! So much for the conspiracy theories about Chef Freitag being pre-selected! I didn't think that Chef Mehta really had better dishes, but of course, I didn't taste the dishes.

-1lb. Milled Biscuit Malt -1lb. Crystal 60L -1lb. Flaked Wheat -8lb. Light DME So, I put in a hearty order to AHS for some supplies, a chiller, and some materials for then... some rendition of a pumpkin ale. Surprised that I didn't find a thread here about the filming of a special "Iron Chef America" episode featuring the not-so-secret-ingredient of produce from the White House's kitchen garden. Two teams compete, including that White House Chef.Air date is Jan 3. http://tinyurl.com/y9awrzj

It is very easy for anyone to cook good food within their comfort zone. I feel a chef should have an exposure to all sorts of cuisines. He or she might specialize in one type but should have skills to adapt to any other type of cuisine. It would not have been a competition if everyone had to cook the dishes that they specialize in. That is the reason some of the most successful chefs have failed...

As I said before, Appleman was my fave here. ICA isn't Top Chef, much less Top Chef Masters, so the pugnacious, gladiatorial persona of the chef would have benefitted the show. I don't really agree with this. Granted, I've only seen Iron Chef a few times, but what I gathered was that the spirit of competition had less to do with "how can I handicap my opponent and/or claw my way to ...
