I plan on starting a income tax preparation business. I'm just curious does anyone else here prepare taxes professionally? My friend has been doing this for about 5 years for the past 3 this is her only job. I have a few questions? What is the better software Drake or Tax Works? How much should I charge? When should I start marketing? Any help/ideas/suggestions from anyone...

( I'm part way through watching Aaron Russo's "Freedom to Fascism" movie, and I'm blown away so far. Is there really no law that requires one to pay federal income taxes? I've done some searching around on the internet, and I've found arguments going both ways. output ,, After many years of considering the ramifications of the tax code and its relevance to the US Citizen I ...

What is the best way to handle the income taxes for a 50-50 co-owned rental property that located in a state (Colorado) different from the state of the owner's residences? I'm looking for the simplest, most straight-forward way to offset the income with the expenses and to share that equally to each owner. If it's not necessary to do a partnership or LLC (which would require re-registering the...

income taxes are in the constitution........ The income tax was created in 1913. Of course it would have to be a constitutional amendment for the government to be able to rob you. well it was passed by congress and ratified by the states, so it couldn't have been TOO bad

I never pay for someone to do my taxes. I buy the software and do them myself and I don't do rapid refund, just direct deposit. Everyone is right, do it close to the hood and you'll have plenty of business. make sure you can offer rapid refund. Start marketing around the middle or end of December because ppl that pay for tax preparation and rapid refund usually ...

usually its a check, unless you owe uncle sam. its technically a credit, meaning you reduce what you owe by 8k, and when you already have an income deduction each month, you generally wind up with at least 8,000. if you buy in january, you lose 1500 in direct credit, but gain 12 months of interest deductions, so its probably about break-even for anyone above the 20% bracket
