How big of an issue is inbreeding in corns? Does it cause neurological/physical defects like with humans, or do they pretty much shrug it off? I ask because I hear of a lot of people buying two snakes from the same clutch with plans to breed them.

This came up in the Sonny/children thread and thought it was fun. Maybe not true inbreeding but it hit me the other day - not for the first time - but Kristina is Sonny's daughter and Molly is Ric's daughter and their sister Sam's dead baby is Sonny's daughter. So, Kristina and Molly are sisters AND cousins. And Molly and Kristina are Sam's dead baby's cousin (Kristina is a ...

So the theory of creation is that God created Adam then took a rib from him and created Eve and hence forth from there (correct me if I'm wrong). If the DNA from Adam is used to create Eve they would be almost identical, therefore they would be inbreeding and all of us would be mass inbreeding resulting in massive birth defects. To get some of our geniuses of today Adam and Eve would have to be ...

I can give you an answer: He's god, he can't do what ever the Hell he wants. Back to inbreeding, we would be steadily getting dumber. If we were steadily getting dumber then how are we making advances in technology, science, and mathematics? Look at the majority of people out there. I'm pretty sure we're getting dumber.

Just saw this on a friend's facebook site... BBC America is airing the controversial documentary, Pedigree Dogs Exposed, Tuesday at 8 pm EST. Disturbing, probing look at the effects of inbreeding and selecting for exaggerated traits. It caused an uproar in the UK and nearly shut down the Crufts dog show. You can also watch it on Terrierman's web site. http://terriermandotcom.blogspot....

Technically speaking, that isn't actually the reason why inbreeding is bad. Basically, every one of us has genes for dozens of lethal genetic disorders. But they're all recessive, which is...

mmm....beer, on 04 December 2009 - 05:53 PM, said: Inbreeding results in rare recessive alleles (an allele is a particular version of a gene e.g. blue eye allele or brown eye allele) being present as two copies in the offspring far more frequently than in offspring produced by unrelated individuals. Say you have a recessive allele which is only present in one in every 1000 members of the ...
