To be honest, I'm not sure how to do the 2 problems I am about to send you at all. For the first one, I tried product rule, but my numbers got all mangled, and then I was confused if I had to take the square root of the final equation. For the second equation, I simply do not know how to do problems with 'e' in them. I think I'd be able to learn from following each step, so this would really ...

Prove that if P(a,b) is a point on the rotated ellipse C (whose equation is ), then so is Q(-a,-b), and that the tangent lines to C at P and Q are parallel. The equation of the line joining P and Q is y - b = m(x - a), where , then the equation of the line is . Now, do I substitute for y into the equation for C? To prove the tangent lines are ...

A kite 100 ft above the ground moves horizontally with a rate of 8 ft/s, find the rate of the angle between the string and the horizontal changing when 200 ft of string has been let out. Is the answer -100[ 8/ (200)^3/2 ] or -8/sqrt(200) ? If the answer is the latter, could you please show your work? I might've missed something while differentiating. Thank you

xy- y^3=1 i got: (d/dx)(xy-y^3)=(d/dx)(1) -product rule -chain rule y+ x(dy/dx) - 3y^2(dy/dx) = 0 x(dy/dx) - 3y^2(dy/dx) = -y -factor out the dy/dx (x-3y^2)(dy/dx) = -y Answer: dy/dx = -y/(x-3y^2) ??? I'm not sure if i'm doing this right Your help is much appreciated, please and thank you in advanced.
