I've recently been having 'fun' with my insurer and the 16vt conversion. The car - Alfa 145 with a Fiat Coupe 16vt engine, Fiat ECU and Fiat immobiliser. It has been insured for a few years now as this with HIC, underwritten by Highway, all mods declared for a reasonable premium. This year I have just renewed again, but they sent me a form to sign to declare that the Thatcham ...

Hi, fitting an Ecotec X20XEV engine into my Chevette, and was wondering whether i need a matching ECU, key, and reader ring, or just a matching reader ring and key? Is there anyway to bypass the immobiliser? As I've heard that fitting an aftermarket ECU chip will get rid of the immobiliser. If this isn't possible then would I be able to run the Ecotec engine using the loom and ECU from a ...

Hi, sometimes when I go to start the car everything goes dead. If I leave the key in the ignition and open & close the driver's door the dashpod, radio, A/C etc all start up again (time & date on dashpod reset)then when I try to start again it all dies. Eventually (so far) it starts. Any Ideas. ( 1999 225bhp)

I've got a 2005 TD5 Defender Hardtop. Its the basic model with no central locking or owt. Unfortunately, I clicked the "activate immobiliser" button by mistake and I can't turn it off now. I can't get the plippers to work either. My pride and joy is now ...
