Hello. I'm currently writing a large series of short books for young people (10 - 14 years old) to help them learn English (UK & US) and need an artist/illustrator who can draw/sketch colour characters for the cover and perhaps a few b/w sketches for occassional use in the book itself. The major character is a young English girl (10 - 14 years old) she goes to school in England and she know ...

So I hate inking, I suck at it. Sakura microns are my worse enemy, because I don't know how to use them well. I can't ink on Adobe Photoshop, I have no tablet. So I decided to ink on a program called Illustrator. Every line is a shape that I drew around and closed, then filled with black. It takes forever, but it looks better ...

I'm looking for a way to create a beveled effect on text in Illustrator CS3. I want to achieve the same sort of smooth bevel than can be made in Photoshop with layer effects. Is that even possible? I also need to be able to separate out the colors for spot process screen printing. I have tried to use the Extrude and Bevel function of the program's 3D effects. But this won't give me a smooth ...

Quote: If I provide a 300 dpi, CMYK, TIF format would that be ok for commercial print? Generally not. Especially if you want color control of any kind or sharp tiny text. Although some low-cost print outlets require you send them that way. FYI, large format is real printing too. Very real. And the rules are very different from 'everyday' ...

I agree with chan, though I've never been in the predicament myself. I'm actually an artist and as one that has not broken through yet (in either art or writing) I can tell you that if you want someone cheap they definitely want to feel invested and wowed by the project. I know I wouldn't commit myself to something unless I felt it was a great piece of work and could help move my own career ...

Did I mention that I don't need to even restart or shut down my laptop (unless I install an update)? Everytime I want to work on something or surf the web, I just open up my 'puter and rock out with my Mac out. -- J
