Does anyone know if I can use an Ignition lock assembly from a 91 sedan automatic for my 93 coupe 6 speed? Will I have to jump wires or add wires? Or will they fit with no problems? Need answer asap. Thank you in advance.

last night my car would not shut off. I got it home and parked it in the street, in case I have to have a tow truck come get it. My key just spins around in the ignition. The car was stuck on, I killed it with the clutch and disconnected the battery to keep it from draining. I have no idea how much it would be to replace the part, (assuming I need a ignition lock,...

Ignition lock cylinder replacement help. The lock cylinder on my 05 balt is bad. Having one hell of a time getting the key to go all the way in, then turn forward. I have a new key, that didn't help, so I have to replace the cylinder. Has anyone done this on the balt? I have done a few before. My biggest question is do I ...

The ignition key was starting to stick the past couple of weeks, but today it will not even turn the cylinder any more. I think i need to replace the ignition lock cylinder for this car. First does any body sell just a replacement cylinder (with new keys)? and second is it possible for an amateur like me to do this? I have some basic wrenching skills, for instance i already replaced the headlight...

So the key snapped off in the ignition and I think it might just be easier to replace it than try to dig it out. Anyone got a DIY on how to replace it? Thanks for the help. Josh

My security light is on all the time, but the car starts. Once every week or two, the car won't even turn over, just turn the key and nothing. I'll wait a few seconds and then it will start. I don't need this problem troubleshot. I don't need or want to disable the VATS......I need to know if anyone has replaced their own ignition cylinder without taking it to the stealership. I am going to ...

I tried to start my 2001 Toyota 4-runner this afternoon and the key would only turn to ACC and I couldn't get it to turn any further. I had noticed it "sticking" slightly over the last 6 months or so, but didn't realize there was a problem. The toyota dealership suggested trying graphite, which didn't solve the problem. I found others online talking about replacing the ignition lock and/or the ...

I searched and found on thread about this but it didn't answer my exact question. My key won't turn unless I sharply pull on the steering wheel and then it only get to accesory power option. Should I even try getting a new cut key from the dealership, 93 camry le v6, or just go ahead and order a new cylinder? Thanks in advance.

My 97 4 Runner has a problem starting from time to time. Sometimes when the key is turned nothing happens. The starter does not click or give any indication that it is receiving juice. After trying several times the engine fires up like there is no problem. I searched the archives and found that it could be the ignition cylinder (tumbler) or the switch. How can I tell which is giving me ...

It could be the switch, it could be wiring or a relay, but it is NOT the key/cylinder section. They physically are two different parts. If you were having problems turning it, then it might be the cylinder.

Ignition Cylinder Lock - 85 Golf - How do I remove? I have the service manual, so if you know where in there I can find it, but I don't see a thing. Otherwise, can you tell me how to remove the ignition lock cylinder so I can install the new one I just bought. Keep in mind, I have the assembly removed already and sitting on my bench, I just can't get the tumbler out....

Even if he has two good keys, he won't be able to use them to initiate the programming since they won't work in the new ignition. Probably have to get a locksmith or take to the dealer.

The cover will not turn until the key is at the number 1 position. The purpose of the tool that looks like a pin/s is to release the cover while slots in the cover and lock (not tumbler) are aligned. If the key will not turn to the number 1 position, your repair cost expand exponentialy.

Remove all the trim from the steering column. Then carefully either drill or punch the little lock pin out. Then the cylinder will come out. Take your time so you do not damage the housing.
