I recently had the eye break off my ignition key. Here's what I did. There are four tie-wraps, two going vertically, one going horizontally through both vertical tie-wraps, and around the key. The fourth doesn't really show in the picture, but is at the top and goes around both vertical tie-wraps and the little loop of cord. These are SMALL tie-wraps, Ancor p/n 351225 (bag of 100) available ...

Hey All, Yet another problem on the 1977 Plymouth Volare. This time the Ignition tumbler needs to be replaced.. but.. the key won't turn at all and I have tried to force it as well. The key doesn't feel like it is hitting any of the tumblers at all and it is pretty worn so tried to have a copy made and it won't touch the tumblers either. The car has a Tilt column on it, but since I ...

In order to take the key off, I have to twist the neck of the steering column to let the key turn all the way down to release the key out... What should I do??? buy a new column???

The key won't turn in the ignition now, maybe 2/3rds of the time (all of a sudden). The only solution is a violent shaking of the steering wheel; then it will crank. Local suby dealer wants $300 (if the problem is mechanical only, which I believe it is), or $500 (if it is mechanical + electrical, which I doubt it is, but which they surely will "tell me" it is). I have been given advice to ...

Hi all, lately I've been having a little trouble with the ignition in my 2003 Sonoma. The key goes in easily and most of the time turns with no problem but now and then I can't get it to turn without fiddling with it a bit. It's been happening more lately. I looked at the key and it's pretty worn. I figured I'd just have a new key made but that will just be a copy of a worn key. I may try ...

So, I manage to lose one of the two sets of keys I keep. Dunno how, and it doesn't matter. Now I have one key to my 2005 F 150. Decided to get another one, but found out they're the ones with a transponder in them. Special stuff. So, in order to get a new key, I can get a new uncut key off eBay and then program it, cost me about $25. The catch? Oh, yeah, that. You're gonna have to have at...

Son called me from college. He had parked his car at his condo, went with friend out of town for weekend. While gone, said he broke the plastic casing on ignition key 'while horsing around'. Upon returning, went to start car (2006 Altima V6), engine turns over and over but will not start. Because I once had another key made for his car, I understand that there is a 'chip' inside the ...

Hi I have a late 2005 1.8TDi LX Estate. When I remove the key from the ignition, after about 15 seconds the windscreen wipers start to move in a juddery fashion and the alarm inside the car beeps. If I turn the ignition back on all is OK. I have had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I have spent a couple of hours googling the problem and it appears that I am not alone. I have ...

Hi, As a new owner of an 09 Santa FE SE, I found another interesting but frustrating tidbit. Apparently, you cannot turn on your headlights without having the key in the ignition? I know this is probably a precaution to prevent your battery from draining but is there a way around this? I really would like to be able to turn on the headlights without having to leave my keys in the car ...
