Trying to use Microsoft Update.  XP 3 box.  When I click 'continue' on the 'review the license agreement' screen I get a pop up box: "iexplore.exe - application error" "The instruction at "0x0ec90068" referenced memory at "0x0ec90068". I've noticed on my Win 7 Pro x64 system that after I run Explorer or Internet Explorer, the explorer.exe and iexplore.exe processes never get deleted from my Windows Task List.  As a result I end up with multiple processes running for each executable.  Lately my IE8 displays an "IE crashed" message even though when I dismiss the dialog, IE continues to work just fine. How do I get these ghost ...

My admin user will logon and boot normally. All limited users logons and boots will keep loading svchost.exe & iexplore.exe into hundreds of occurences. No applications load at all. No desktop full of icons. Must hard reset each time. XP SP3 and IE 7.0.5730.11 I have checked for viruses. There are none. This is maddening. My kids are going to kill me. Any ideas?
