My 2000 Sportage is idling funny. It idles at a normal 700-800rpm for the most part but lately it seems to occasionally idle around 1000-1500rpm. does anyone experience a knock while idling. Its barely audible, is continuous every 2 to 3 seconds and can be felt thru the steering wheel and brake pedal. I own a 99 328 E46. Has about 105K on it. I use 91 when fueling so it shouldn't be a gas knock. Any ideas to get me going???? thanks.

My car will jump from 900 rpm(my base idle) all the way to apprx. 2000 rpm and hold there. This usually happens after the car has been running for atleast five minutes. If the car sits for a few days, it takes a pump or 2 to start it, it revs up a bit, and i have to keep the rpms up with the gas pedal to keep it going. When I start my truck it surges quite a bit for a few seconds then runs great. if I "tease" the motor once or twice before starting it then start it up it fires up normally and runs great. any ideas? fuel pressure is good i know that much. Also if the truck has been running in the past 15min 20min It will start right up normally

I have a 95 Taurus with the 3.8L engine. Lately it has been dying when you are sitting at a light or stop sign. It also dies after 5-10 minutes when Im warming it up in the mornings. It immediately restarts without any problems. It seems like it is idling low. Is there an idle speed sensor that might be bad? What do I need to be checking? Thanks, Gary
