Story : http://www.ispreview.co.uk/story/2009/11/25/uk-mob ile-broadband-operators-unable UK Mobile Broadband services might not be the fastest or most reliable method of getting an Internet connection but they could become safe havens for illegal file sharing pirates due to a problem with identification. But plans to warn and eventually disconnect "suspected" abusers from their ISPs will...

I thought I liked Xilo. This quote, if true , is a bit off in my opinion! "For what it's worth I am the reviewer called Miles Hand. I joined the ISPReview forum for the sole purpose of reviewing Xilo's service, at Xilo's request." From this post . Note the contents of the post it replies to . Bob's broadband help site: www.robertos.me.uk ISP history: ...

Hi, I had Virgin Media installed last week, and am distinctly unimpressed by the 20Mb broadband experience so far. Speed tests (using various speed test sites including speedtest.net, thinkbroadband.com, ispreview.co.uk) generally show OK-ish downstream speeds during the day - usually between 10 and 17Mb, and pings are good at between 10 and 40ms, however in the evenings the speeds are ...

"Details have emerged on the price cuts that are to be introduced on BT 's Wholesale services. According to ISPreview.co.uk, the cost of using the company's platform, which offer speeds of up to 24Mb , will be reduced for internet service providers from the start of next year. Under the plans, monthly bandwidth charges related to the platform will be cut from ?79.34 to ?40, while rental is to ...

In reference to www.ispreview.co.uk/story/2009/09/25/more-details- on-bt-wholesales-... : WBC bandwidth charges will reduce from £79.34 (excluding VAT) to £40.00 (excluding VAT) per Mbits/s per month. That's a pretty serious drop in price along with the rental charges dropping in Market 1 & 2 areas. BTW clearly must be feeling the hit from the emerging LLU wholesale market. The cut in...

My router is "N" and my TP Link card is "Draft N"; the TP Link card has worked perfectly with everything else that has been thrown at it, so I suspect the problem lies with the Netgear router.

The PostOffice, I believe, bases its connection off BT's Managed Wholesale broadband product. But we have heard some mixed reactions about their service. You might like to check out IDNet's phone and broadband bundles too, heck even PlusNet might be better than Tiscali but I keep hearing mixed things about them too.

have the engineers been up the telephone pole to check for bad/wet connections,as this happened to myself and neighbours so we kicked off and bt spent a week bodging which is what they do. uk is a modern country but we seem to be a laughing stock to others when it comes to internet connectons. bt should be made to spend our line rental charges on proper repairs not dellboy types.

In reply to a post by sidneyk : Admittedly the postings at ISPreview gave rise to some small suspicion as to their validity, but if as Xilo states some of these people have simply been asked to review and comment on their service/product, I can see no evidence to indicate wrongdoing, or any action to attract valid criticism. As we all know most people have a tendency to ...

Thanks for the link - interesting reading. I can understand why benbird7 is aggrieved by being unfairly tagged as a someone posting dishonestly to boost the ratings of an ISP. I'd feel the same. And I can see why ISPreview take a no-nonsense approach to bogus posts - after all, they want their reviews to be seen to be independent and trustworthy. I can't see any particular problem ...

Ugh Penny if they still haven't cancelled it then drop me (Editor) an email and I'll see if I can lean on some BT folks for you with a little media pressure: http://www.ispreview.co.uk/contact.shtml

Assuming Sky or TalkTalk cover your area with their fully unbundled services (check with only your phone number here [don't put in a postcode] http://www.ispreview.co.uk/checker/ ) then you should be able to get Sky to TT to handle the line rental separate from BT. Your choices would of course increase if you used BT but they are rather crafty and like locking people into long contracts, which ...
