I have a 5th grader and I have heard many good things about the IEW curriculum. If I were to do a Student Writing Intensive Set for DS (5th grade) what set should I get? Level B? Also, do I need to get the TWSS DVDs or can I avoid that cost? Would the SWI dvds be enough info for my son to get the writing education? Thanks, Angela

I am considering joining an IEW coop with my 8 year old son. They just started a month ago, and he is suddenly showing interest in and aptitude for writing! My impression of IEW is that it is A. EXPENSIVE, and B. time consuming. What is your impression / experience with this, and do you recommend this program? tia

Does anyone use IEW for the writing structure, but not follow (or only minimally follow) the directions for adding dress-ups? And if one was to use the SWI, directed to the student, would it be possible to minimize the dress-up requirements, or are they too integral to the assignments? Michelle T

From the description in Rainbow Resource, Imitation in Writing bases writing assignments on key word outlines. Is it similar to IEW? Can someone familiar with both (or just with Imitation in Writing) explain the difference? Michelle T

We are integrating LL7 (almost finished) and IEW. How does one combine these two? The authors of LL7 do not like adverbs! Yet, IEW LOVES adverbs. LL7 thinks the word "said" is complete and to the point, whereas IEW lists this as a "BANNED" word. Dd has been very curious about these differing opinions. We both agree that we like IEW better. I have been skipping the writing assignments in ...

I have a lot of children that I will be teaching to write, so I am looking at the best program for the long run. I need the program to be well organized and easy to teach...so I love the DVD availability with IEW's SWI courses. If I go that route, I would do the SWI and then the SICC's. If you use the lesson plans available, is it super easy to do, using the DVD route? How much time would it...
