I am trying to install WIN 7 and use SATA300 TX2 plus IDE controller to run a 990GB HDD. The new installation tells me that I require a new driver - no Win 7 driver is available at the Promise websight. My previous installation was Vista 32 and all was OK - I understand that Windows 7 is compatible with Vista, so where am I going wrong? Any help will be much appreciated.

I am installing win 7 on my dads laptop and it came up with the following message: These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers. Storage controllers: AKTHNC1Y ...

This is probably a stupid question and I think I already know the answers...but here goes; I was wondering if you could use a RAID 0 config in conjuction with using a your normal IDE 1 controller with a hard drive for storage purposes? Or is it once you use a RAID config can you only add HDD via the array? Thanks!

I followed these steps on our Windows Server 2008 SP2 guest machine: Shut down the guest Added a dynamically expending 80GB VHD on an IDE controller (it was the second disk, the first one represents the C: drive in the guest) Booted the guest and went to Computer Management, Disks The new disk showed up, I clicked it, initialized it and then tried to format it. The formatting...

Hi; I've just purchased a Creative I/O Controller Card for my system. I've installed a new Motherboard - Gigabyte G31M-ES2L - which has only one IDE channel/socket. The system has PATA hard drives, and a PATA DVD drive, which means that I need a second IDE channel/socket for the DVD drive (since I am using the socket on the motherboard for the hard drives). I've installed the card, and my DVD...

Hello, Help please? I am trying to install my old IDE HDDs in my new Vista PC which is SATA. There is no IDE on the motherboard, so I am using an ITE IT-8212 PCI IDE card. Here's the story so far... Bog standard Vista PC, SATA HDD running in AHCI mode set as the boot device. I have two 300GB IDE drives that I want to add to the Vista PC, so I splurged $10 on an IDE controller...

Alright, so I've been using a Rosewill RC-200 to run 2 hard drives (Master and Slave), while 2 DVDRom drives were plugged into the onboard IDE slots. Until now, there has been zero issues with this setup. Today, I purchased a SATA hard drive, to use as the Primary HDD to run Windows on. It was my intention to leave the two IDE drives installed, to use as slaves. At first, the computer ...

Doe´s EasyBSD version 2.0.0.60 support Ite 8212 Ide controller. I have 2 sata drives. On the first one Vista 64 bits alone and on the other 5 Linux distributions and I can boot them all. Four Ata drives are connected to the Ite 8212 controller. On the first one (drive 2, partition 2 in EasyBSD) is SIDUX. However I get a hard disk error when trying to boot Sidux.

So... how do i install Ubuntu or Windows 7 to a 16 gig flash drive? I found a USB header, and there's plenty of room in there to put 1 (maybe even two and a hub) 16gig flash drive. I just need to know how to install something to a USB flash drive... anyone know how to? I can install from it, just not to it :/

From a command prompt W98/SE FDISK and FORMAT do indeed report drive sizes >64GB incorrectly (64GB less than actual); a replacement for FDISK is available from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=263044 Format is initially incorrect, but the final size is correct; AFAIK there is no fix from MS: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=263045 BTW, although I don't ...
