Quote: APOLOGIES to the fanbois, but I am about to kill some nice AMD dreams. Reverse Hyperthreading does not exist. It's one of the bigger loads of bluff and bluster cooked up in a long time. AMD doesn't have any such technology. It would like to have it but even the upcoming K8L quad core won't be able to present a dual or quad core as a single core to the Operating ...

I have a Pavilion Elite d5000t with an Asus IPIBL-TX motherboard. I currently have an Intel Core 2 Quad processor and want to upgrade to the i7 quad w/ hyperthreading. Will the current motherboard support that processor or do I need to upgrade that as well? Thanks! -Jake

I've been running Belarc Advisor for several years whenever I make a hardware or software change and saving the reports. Today I noted that under the processor info there's a listing I've never seen: "not hyper-threaded." Is this a concern? Should I enable HT? I think I have to go into the BIOS to do it. This is my third installation of XP Home on this machine; I have no idea whether it was...

Thanks, Ron. I'm aware that the results and reviews are mixed, but I'll just have to see what effect it has. I've read it can slow down burning programs, but if it speeds up Photoshop even a little, it's good for me. dg

H ell o DAL, I'm looking to get more performance out of my machine. I have done most of the small tweaks I can think of. Turned on HyperThreading, page file, cleaning, defragment HDD, etc. I'm running a dual display (monitor & TV (S-Video) . The problem is, is my CPU is maxing out even if I change process priorities. I can turn on TuneUp Utilities 2010's turbo mode on (it changes ...

Hi everyone Since I bought the motheboard I'm using right now, almost a year and a half ago, and I've scratching my head real hard about three subtle and incomprehensible options. But first let me tell you about my machine's specs: 1. Processor: Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz, with hyperthreading. 2. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-i8775PE, based on intel's i865PE chipset. 3. RAM: 3GB Kingstone's 3200...

Hey folks, From my original post you probably could tell that I already realized that Sonar 8 was designed for a system like mine. However, not everyone is willing or able to "treat" themselves everytime a software company does an upgrade. If you're like me, your stuck having to pick and choose where you spend your cash. For those who can afford to upgrade everything, congrats! My ...
